Today I finaly instaled an intecooler. All the stuf needed to do this costed me about 75 bucks including intercooler. I dont have any picks now but will post some soon. Dont know haw it works now because the boost is set to 0.3 bar so it has no chance to proof it self but toomorow the boost will be set to 0.75bar or maybe more icon_smile.gif
Only one thing has changed. When the throtle closes it gives the same sound like a supra from The fast and the furious. New BOV is now coming to me from the states. The same one as bart has. And that will be for now for the engine. The next part will be suspension.

looking good chester! i love seeing s12's as dirty and rusty as mine! shows they've been well 'loved' (haven't seen one rustier yet tho!). icon_biggrin.gif
stock boost is around .5 bar so you should be fine to that. realistically, with the ic you should be fine to .8 or .9 bar but it's safest to step up slowly with an a/f gauge if you have one. that's some crazy piping you've got going there!
you certainly installed your ic cheaper than i did. (grumble grumble). welcome to the homemade intercooled club.
I dont have a o2 sensor so cant install AFR gauge and the engine bay is nit rusty. Its exxtrymly dirty but there are plans to clen ti

Any problems with the hose going accross the rad. support getting pinched when the hood is closed? looking at mine doesn't look like there's much room unless you maybe notched out a piece in hood? Also, did you notch out a spot in the grille to run the piping down to the ic?

Guys do not forget that ChesTer has the freshest engine here. "Congrats"
So if he wants to be nice and run at a very modest boost level until the engine is broke in, lets be nice and give him the needed time to do so.
Then crank it up to 2bar

Nice work. Someone should make a 200sxi badge.
An intercooler make some real diffrens on the ca18et we first jused the Saab 900 ic from the early 80´s.
Now we are going to use an Saab 9000ic from the early 90´s.

Holy giant Intercooler Batman!!! Where are you gonna put the radiator? Gonna go to an electric fan? Is there a ca18det in the cars future?
Those SAAB IC's are great! They are really made for the car. They fit right in, you just have to move the rad backwards (towards the engine) a bit and ditch the battery (to the trunk). They're relatively cheap (around here at least) and do the job very well. My friend has one in his RS12 and a couple friends have them in their RS13's
Anyway, if you think that's big, what do you think of mine?

That's my IC next to the stock radiator
http://www.autoala.net/filk/sil.jpg
That's a very bad pic of the IC in the car.
It needed some custom work to fit..my battery is now in the trunk, had to cut away the battery rack, and make a cut in the frame bar to make room for the IC. Gotta love it icon_biggrin.gif
By the way...what's the thing with the little i letter? As in CA18ETi??
I think you mean that you have an intercooler in your car, but why state it with an i? Nissan never had a letter to state whether or not the engine had an IC or not. There were, however, few cases where Nissan used a small i letter in the code. Examples:
CA18i = 1.8 litre n/a engine with one of those electronically controlled carburettor thingys..kinda a premature injection thing..I'm sure you don't want your cars to be like that?
CD20Ti and CD20ETi = 2 litre DIESEL engine. I don't have any fact info about those but at least they are turbodiesels and I'm 99% sure the i means a direct injection (what else could it mean). I'm sure your engines aren't diesels either? Maybe you have some brand new high technology and you've converted your cars into direct injection? (Like Mitsubishi's GDi = Gasoline Direct injection), where fuel is injected straight into the combustion chamber, not the intake manifold.
Note: I don't want to flame you...I just don't get it why you ppl use that 'i'....

We are using a s13 alu radiator and an electric fan from an volvo 940 15"big.
But we have to move the battry to the trunk not a big deal icon_cool.gif

Filk: That pic of your car with the IC installed is insperational. icon_smile.gif How much boost are you running now? We do use the i to indicate having a ic. Just a shorthand way to save time. I kind of like it though.
Man I wonder how much boost the stock volvo and saab cars were running to need intercoolers of that size. I mean those are WAY bigger than the stock mk. 3 supra ics.
Max boost they can handle is about 1,5bar the newest Aero has 1,5 bar stock icon_smile.gif
We are building the engien right now we used to have 0,9bar but we are now going to have 1,1 icon_wink.gif
We have got the ca18det reinforsment to the bottom of the block dont know what it´s name in english is.
Sorry for the big foto this part, but not this engien this is my friends 200sx s13 ca18det that i built last summer.[/img]

What are the dimensions of that volvo intercooler and what are the dimensions of the cavity in the car? (i.e. how wide an intercooler can be placed in that spot in front of the radiator?)
Thanks,
