I raced my friend in his 93 integra gsr the other day, and after I was done spanking him, he was freakin out and shit and he was like.." whoa man... huf huff huff, you have flames comin out yer exhasut."I was pretty excited, i gotta make a digi movie of my car so you guys can hear it, it sounds better than any car I have ever heard before, almost like a mini 900hp v8.lol Anyway, I'm thinkin I'll keep the car, and I'm gonna throw in the coilt cam right away if possible. My car booggies, it pulls real hard to 7000rpm, we got it dynoed again last friday, but we didn't know what to make of the results, its seems I was running more like 18psi on the dyno, before so, my bad... My boost gauge line had a bend in it, and it seemed it read acurrately to 13 psi, which was more like 19psi.\
either way it put down 188hp

oh, what is our comp ratio?ca18et?
and i dont wanna sound like a dickhead, but whats the difference between hydro. and solid cam? i'm confused?
later

Uhhmmm I'm confused.

In your other post you made 224 rwhp on the dyno. And now, you're making almost 40 less, with a turbo that flows only about 40 cfm more than the T2?

mr 200 cough cough... hater, can I sak you a question, how much power does your car make, and have you ever actually built a car up properly? What I wrote in my post is completely acurrate. I'd like to know what makes you the authority on the 200sx? I'm not one to be harsh, but I'm sensing some hp jealousy... look, I'm gonna give you some advice, bring your glo pedals and you trash can muffler back to canadian tire, and kiss my ass, and while your at it take 2fast 2 furious out of your vcr and burn it, for that is the only cure for sad ricers like yourself. As for the safc, a friends tunning shop did all the "tunning" to it, and clipped the maf, if you cant get the wiring diagram from a factory service manual, call your local dealership (nissan of course) and ask to get a copy of the diagram made, if the parts guy is retarded just ask for the shop foreman, I beleive that is what my friend did.. I made a boo boo too, I should have got them to wire up my 02 sensor to the ecu, as my wiring it to the sensor, might make it not read properly due to a difference in voltage. I will see if he still has a copy of the diagram,m if not, I will I could getv one for you if you cant get it, but it may take some time as I am quite busy all the time fixing my car, or doing the body work on my honda(s).

88turbo,
If you were smart you would delete your last post. Is as stated.

MimmsDec 5, 2003, 7:10 pm · #13

88turbo, not to get involved in this but whats your beef? I dont think Matt was being harsh by any means, and certainly not enuff to warrant your reaction, and if anything I would say he is one of the authorities on 200sx, lets take for example he has over 1500 post's and Im sure has been working on his 200rd for sometime, and what you have 50 post's? I'm sorry but there's no jealousy here, we're all Silvia enthusiatse's why the hate?

Sorry to get involved, but Matt is a good guy and I dont like seeing some newb tell a good guy off, and another thing, since he has more cloat around here then you I'd suggest kissing some major ass, cuz how much do you value using this board?

hey turbo88, to be fair you're the one who originally posted that you dyno'd 220+ whp on your set up. some of us questioned you on it and you never showed the proof like you said you were going to. now you come back and show 190whp. it kinda makes you seem like you're the poser. i was originally going to say something too as i was one of the original 'doubters' but matt beat me to it icon_biggrin.gif

there are a lot of guys here essentially making homemade parts and mods. they may not be pretty but they still work and still get results. and i daresay that it takes a lot more skill and risk to mod a car yourself than to take it to someone else and just pay them to do it. so try not to disparage those of us with the 'canadian tire mufflers'. and if you saw matt's car, you'd know it's anything BUT rice. just the opposite.

matt shown himself to be a valuable resource to this board and more than just a little knowledable about cars so i really wouldn't try to put him down unless you've shown at least as much know how.

hey matt, before you respond to this, just remember, ** calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean** icon_biggrin.gif

-sidebar-

it's kinda depressing to me to hear that with all that work and boosting to 18 psi you've 'only' got 190 whp (i know, it's all relative). i guess those guys with fj and det ambitions may be on the right track. on the other hand, it really makes me appreciate the kind of work that gripo and the other high HP members must have done!

Yah I would nix this whole thread but the concept of Matt as a FnF coffee-can muffler riceboy is so mind-numbing I can't bring myself to do it. You do realize that is his Dodge Charger in his avatar, right? He's an old-school Mopar musclecar guy dabbling with his S12 to expand his and our horizons.
88turbo, we are quite a tightly-knit group here, I feel like these guys are my neighbors even though we live thousands of miles apart and in some cases on different continents. You might want to read up and learn a little something about the guy before you even think about throwing words like that around.

Matt the riceboy......man that might keep me awake tonight... icon_eek.gif

Dont hate, appriciate, I've noticed that there were a few doubters on this forum from the start, and quite frankly, I have no patience for it, I'm well aware that mr.200 has been on this forum since nov 2002, however on a search I could not find any of his mods except a silly photoshop. I am a longstanding member on mx6.com and have never faced the same sort of wolf pack, kill everything that is new attitude, I have never bashed a newbie, nor have I "Flamed" someone for a difference in opinion,. I understand my words may have been out of context, however, just because you guys have been on this site for so long doesnt' mean you should be doubting other peoples claims based more or less on the fact that you dont beleive I have x mods done to my car. I have a lot of experience with imports and I'm sorry I could not awnser the lifter question, I was under the impression that a hydraulic cam as it was quoted to me was some sort of v-tec hydraulic solenoid. Aso for the dyno sheet, I'm not a computer nerd, and I cannot post pics as easily as some of the other people on this site, I will be meeting geoffdonk in person soon and he will be in my car for a rip, after that we can see what he has to say to how much power the car makes, and how clean it is put together. I noticed mr.200's intercooler, and although he gets points for that, look how his engine bay looks, look at the way the rad and fmic are, if your goin straight performance, thats fine, but thats not how I build my cars, my 200 is ultra clean and assembled beautifully. I have the intention of demonstrating my pride in this car, with most of the stops, I hopeit will one day make all of youproud, I dont want to bash, but I've grown tired of the constant skepticism. I will retract what I said, and maybe it wasn't directed @ mr.200 but at all of you who have posted remarks about my car, which were not so friendly. I plan on building this car up to a level I have not seen in an s12 yet, and although I do not need this forum I should appriciate it, I appriciate things like barts susp devel. as with the 1st gen mx6's we were in the same boat of lack of aftermarket parts, and when someone does something like that, it shows true love for an automobile. So in conclusion, I will once again retract my statement(s) to mr.200, and I hope that all of you who have showed unfriendtly doubt(althouy it was done with little disrespect.) to look at yourselves and think about this, I came to this forum to share what I had and to see what other people had. Upon my arrival and first few staement sof my car I was ridiculed to an extent, I make a fair bit of montey as am only 19 and will soon be a licensed trailer mechanic, in less than six months I have spent almost 6000$ on this car, and countless man hours of my own, you cant spend that much on a motor and some recaros and have it go slow.

I too am hoping to hook up a SAFC to mine. I have one of the old school SAFC's and it says it will fit the CA18DET, i imagine it will fit my CA18ET..

Any advice appreciated..The harness that's with it has 4 wires, red, yellow, white and black.

My guess -
Red -Live
Black - Earth/Ground
Yellow & white - feeds from ecu or 02 sensor?

Then of course, gotta figure out which setting for the car selector and airflow select (V or F)

you know, i wrote something in response to you 88turbo, but i decided not to post it. Get off your high horse. No-one here has an ego about their car, regardless if it goes 10.6 or 17.7. We don't have room for someone that does.

as far as the SAFC stuff goes, maybe 88turbo can enlighten us, or if you guys give me a few days, when i clear this mess off my desk I can find the SAFC manual and hook you guys up with some wire colors, etc.

Bart, as far as specific wire colors, the FSM should have the harness labeled, so as soon as I tell ya the colors comin from the SAFC (and their desired connection) you can link those to the FSM's color chart.

keep in mind, a wide-band or dyno time will be needed to properly tune the car. EGT could get you close, but its really an inaccurate measurement of A/F ratio (most guys used WBo2 for A/F and EGT for timing advance in coil pack cars)

if anyone was interested in buying a WB02 setup for their car, i just spent the last day representing a speed shop i am associated with at the PRI show shopping for Wb units. So if ya want to know the features compare from one unit to the next, i could probibly give ya a run-down. just get a hold of me. same goes for standalones (but no-one on this board needs one yet...so i'm just going to assume no-one will ask me about that)

from this thread : http://www.club-s12.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2996

written by yours truely, so any mistakes are mine.

For those of you reading this post that do not know how a WBo2 works, it is similar to the run of the mill o2 sensor that you are familar with. It measures the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas, and determines the fuel mixture as a result. The standard 3 or 1-wire o2 sensors only register a data-worthy value at WOT, when the ecu clicks into closed loop mode. The WBo2 has a steady value across the entire throttle band. It lets to fine tune the fuel mix throughout all the power band. It is crucial if you want a GREAT tune. You might have a fine tune at WOT, but running rich at low boost would slow down your spool and we all know thats not good. Not to mention being rich at lower levels would lead to bad gas milage, that problem could pay for the WBo2 itself over time. It is just a good decision that if you are trying any type of major fuel modification to get one. You cannot use a standard gauge to read the output, but if you do alittle research out there, you will see that there is a ton of info on the WB, so if your interested go hit google and learn up. cool stuff.

Wow ... well, first and foremost, thanks guys. Nice to know the club's got my back ... icon_lol.gif

Hater? No, then I would have said something along the lines of "At least I can read my boost gauge." icon_wink.gif

As for not finding any of my mods ... if it's really that hard to see. You could have asked.

I don't know how much power my car is making. I figured that dyno time on a car that's modded the same as most would be pretty pointless.

But once the new turbo/fuel rail/injectors/ported head/cam/EMBC and fuel computer go on, it will be dynoed. Just to prove that the mods work. So that if anyone on the board wants to go the same route I did, they can.

But yeah ... I was just curious ... and kept a lot of comments to myself.

Losing 40hp to 6 psi of boost over the efficiency range of a T25 surprised me.

And I for one have always believed you make a car fast first, fast looking second. I'm proud of the fact my 200 is ghetto. Because I only spent $300 on it, and have maybe $500 invested in it.

If you want a cookie or something for spending $6,000 on your car, sure. I for one would keep $6,000 invested to make less power than Dave (wacomuk) did on his dyno run to myself. I don't think throwing money at a car is a great way to go fast. And 188hp for $6000 is bordering on Honda territory. If you ever need a small block or big block pushrod V8 motor built, for $6000 I could probably squeeze 750hp on pump gas. And that's with a healthy a$$hole tax.

And in all honesty, on the behalf of everyone here, I wanted some proof. Not because I feel you would have a reason to lie to us, but some things didn't add up, and I wanted to know why or why not.

I remember not too long ago (won't mention poster's name because every time I do, he comes back out of the woodwork) who posted that the best way to make power in an S12 was to boost to 20 psi without an intercooler.

And we put a stop to it. Why? Most of us knew better, but there's always the chance some newb would believe him and try it.

And as for calling me a ricer ... that's a joke. Its not like I have Recaro seats or anything. icon_wink.gif But funny enough, I do have APC pedals ... I find toe heeling easier with them.

VCR? How 80s do you think I am? icon_confused.gif No, I have 2F2F on DVD ... it's pretty funny.

And don't take this as a "flame" or a "hate" or whatever word you want to come up with.

If you want to disrespect me or my cars, go ahead. I don't get bent out of shape over it. But I've built a lot of fast cars. I made 632 hp out of a 383 ci small block chev, and I was 17. It was bolted into a home-built Pontiac Acadian with no big dollar parts - almost all stock. And it ran 11.6. With money to burn on a narrowed rear end and good slicks that car would have easily been into the 10s.

I try to do my best to be helpful to members. I don't have a "wealth" of import experience, but really, it doesn't make a difference. An engine is an air pump, whether it's carby or FI. Most of us on this board are backyard DIYers. Bart has made absolutely genius advancements in the suspension/steering/all-things-S12. Why? Because he's trying to help all of us. He's saving board members literally hundreds if not thousands of dollars out of the goodness of his heart.

That, I respect.

The Good Doctor, who has probably not even had the time to sit down for the past couple months, still takes the time out of his insano-busy schedule to help members out, as well as devote time to advancements of the S12. He's even helping turbo guys go fast, and he's driving an NA car. He practically bathes in huge horsepower cars. I'd kill to have the opportunities he does. Plays a mean tuba too icon_wink.gif

That I also respect.

Chris has taken an enormous amount of his personal time to give the VG guys a haven for their SEs. He has a lifetime of auto experience to draw on, and does so just to help. He also has shown a great deal of love for club members.

That I respect.

Mimms, Geoff and the rest of the new West Coast Canuck crew are very very quickly becoming experts, and have gone from learning to teaching, and helping others.

Hell, and Travis out there was one of the first fast turbo S12s in that area. And he's got some pretty frightening projects coming out.

Then there's the UK contingent. Spencer is the closest thing to an S12 saint as there ever will be. He's helped us all, from Newbie to mod. Another member who has a crazy hectic schedule, shares his knowledge daily. I miss having him around, but he's got priorities, and I'm sure we'll all see him again soon.

Also in the UK, there's Gripo, 320 whp out of a ca18et. And Wacomuk, probably next in line, he's going to have some freaky power shortly. And honest Jim, a seriously stand-up S12 guy.

Let's not forget the Swedes either. The meatball contingent have some real hardcore cars too. We bitch about parts availability and aftermarket, but these dudes have it hard. You should see the Drifting Dragons ... awesome.

The stateside you've got Arro, who not here for some time, got mine, and a number of other member's heads out of our collective asses, and taught us all a lot about turbo cars. Sterling, he's been quiet, which worries me. Last I saw he had a turbo the size of my head perched on his ca20e. Then there's Alex, who has a stick-to-it-ness that we could all learn from. He blew up the "ca20et pioneer" car. And now he's doing it all again.

Bulls eye, or Mr. Panda, cranky pants ... icon_wink.gif Knows his stuff, doesn't run his mouth, again, another valuable resurce. He's gotten way beyond "bolt-on" goodies, and can teach us all a thing or twenty.

Joart has done custom work to his car that makes me salivate. He's got a wicked eye for customization, and I always look forward to his pictures. Even if I like fixed headlights better than sleepy eyes icon_wink.gif

SSchung is probably the only guy that has as much Canadian Tire money from his S12 project as I do. One day we'll get to those beers my friend.

All of this is run by Dan. He doesn't even have his S12 anymore, but he loves the car. He also knows more about all models of S12 than most of us. But above all that, his love for cars, and love for members and his money is what we have to thank for this site.

And I'm positive I've forgotten hundreds of members, and I mean no disrespect. There's just so many good people on here, that when I read ...

"and have never faced the same sort of wolf pack, kill everything that is new attitude, I have never bashed a newbie, nor have I "Flamed" someone for a difference in opinion,. I understand my words may have been out of context, however, just because you guys have been on this site for so long doesnt' mean you should be doubting other peoples claims based more or less on the fact that you dont beleive I have x mods done to my car."

and ...

"I hope that all of you who have showed unfriendtly doubt(althouy it was done with little disrespect.) to look at yourselves and think about this, I came to this forum to share what I had and to see what other people had. Upon my arrival and first few staement sof my car I was ridiculed to an extent"

I get mad. Don't throw words like "respect" around until you have the first clue what you're talking about.

As for "not needing this board" I think the board needs your "I paid $6000 to have X parts installed" even less.

And if you want to go all Simian ... keep it to PM. I won't post your PMs in the lobby, or just delete them. If you have a beef, go right ahead. Feel free to pour the "hate" on my ratty S12. It is shoddy, and I know it. I'll get around to the bodywork eventually. Did I mention that I painted my Charger?

But if you want to try and flame the "attitude" of this board, I won't stand for it. Too many good people have poured their hearts and souls into helping other people.

I'm done here, and I don't think this was a very meaningful post, so if you want to lock it or delete it fine. I won't respond in here to any further time wasting. And I do so out of respect
