i've recently got my hands on a fj20et but doesn't come with a turbo and ecu so was thinking of de-turboing it and run mikuni's with em.
has anyone done this b4 cos the only problem now is getting the CR up with pistons but finding fj24 pistons here are close to impossible.i'm really stuck!! :wall:
DE-Turboed FJ20ET
Where are you located? You might be able to find a ECU, you would definately find a turbo.
i'm located all the way in friggin malaysia.down here there aint much worth for FJ's so parts are extremely rare.i even have to get cutom made gaskets and all.so having this problem i decided to NA the fj20et but don't really know which nissan engine pisoton should i use for high comp...
anyway, aftermarket stuff here fetch a very high price :(
Well glad to have you on the forum. Im sure people here would be more than wiling to help you out.
thanks bro, hopefully i can get my project up and running ASAP...really need help from you guys on this...
Running a low compression FJ20ET with carbs will be very slow. I have an FJ20E with twin dellortos (DHLA 40mm) & it makes 80rwkw with 9:1 comp ratio which is less than the factory EFI power. The ET only has 7.5:1 comp ratio so you'll drop a heap of power.
See [URL=http://www.turbocreations.com/fj20]FJ20.com for more detilas.
I have a spare FJ20E loom if you'd like to buy it & you can run a Microtech to get it running BETTER than factory.
have to agree with these guys,
FJ20ET not running turbo will be really slow might be better getting a turbo ecu for it if thats all your missing?
I have a factory ecu and harness for FJ20E (remember it only does fuel so you still have to sort the dizzy out) Fj20ET uses a different dizy to FJ20E
not true, the nz new fj20e's and european fj20e s12's have a different fuel only injection system. the japanese dr30's share the same dizzy and ignition system as the turbo. the only difference between turbo and non for the japanese dr30's is the computer and airflow meter units, and one extra wire to the air flow meter.
id say go turbo, its easy enough to make a manifold or find some one to make one for you. a turbo should be easy to get too.
you dont want to run fj24 pistons as this will take your engine out to 92mm bore which is the maximum oversize (i think), and you would also need to change cams too.
there is quite often a turbo/manifold for sale on fj20.com in australia, and shouldnt cost too much to get to you in Malaysia.

Oh cool learn something new every day :D
ok thanks a lot guys!! :p anyway , i know goin the turbo way is more practical but i was thinking of getting it NA originally planned.the problem was geting a fj20e is impossible here so the best i got was a turbo version.i really hope that you guys can help me out with this...
i can hike the CR up with thinner gaskets and a shaved head but my problem really is the overbore..i would ideally like to make the fj go up to 2.2cc.that will be ideal and not too over doin it, problem is, i can get aftermarket pistons here for the fj so plan on taking other nissan pistons into it.just dont know which one model to canabalize it from. :(
really stuck with this , really hope to get help from ya all... ;)
I can trade you my FJ20E pistons for your FJ20ET dry.gif
