Ok just as the topic's title. I know there are some options for soild rear LSD but what tell tell signs are there to ID each style. It's a lil harder then the IRS cuz each one looks a lil different, not so easy on the live axle. any help would be good. And yes i've checked the boards and nowhere did i find pics or links on what the differences are. Just need to clear things up for the soilds out there

Otherwise I think the internals are the same, more or less. Just like the Subaru WRX R180, only those are long nose and I think those are a direct drop in on the S12. Though I can't be 100% sure, since no one has tired it yet.

I've been trying to find a good and somewhat cheap LSD Subaru diff to pick up, give it a try on my S12.

unless u swap cases it wont work. the dif doesnt have those 4 botls holes that run through it
Yea, most short nose diffs are two bolt.
I swapped a vlsd GtiR centre into an s12 long nose case. You also need the right hand side inner CV from the GtiR as it has the spline that operates the VLSD centre. I had to take the inner end off an s12 CV and have the CV shaft resplined to take the Gtir bearing and bearing cup. You have to make sure you get the resplined shaft case hardened or the shaft will snap where its been resplined.
(I have since sold this diff to a (510) 1600 guy and gone with an s12/s13 R200 VLSD hybrid, which with all the s12 and s13 CV parts sorted together is a bolt up, i.e. no shaft resplining as the s13 CV bearing is exactly the same as the one on the s12 CV shaft.
