I need a new transmission mount i think!
And was wondering were i can get one, as the original Nissan one are had to get...

I thinking of the transmount from mmr-direct but i think it wil stress the body more and make the car shake much? I have a fj20 and will turbo it later, and i dont want my car to make much noise and get all the vibrations from the engine in my car!
Anyone with experience?

So are there other alternatives than this solid aluminium?

Tanks..

I priced nissans trans mount $114 thats just for the small metal braket and hunk of rubber so I'm going for mmr's alumn .I can't imagine too much stress because there is still a dog bone with rubber bushings that mounts to the chassis to reduce vibrations.

You shouldn't need a puller of any kind, since the CV shafts on the SE/Turbo (R200 diff) have flanges on both ends... Basically all you have to do is unbolt them.
On other models with the R180 differential, they pop-in at the diff, but still have a bolt on flange at the spindle.

how do i disconnect it from the suspension arm and the wheel hub

abunaiS12Oct 24, 2006, 2:30 am · #6

ok i finally bought some spring compressor things they were only 12 bucks. so I took out the spring, disconnected both control arm bolts from the crossmember thing, disconnected the transvers link thing and disconnected the strut from the control arm, when i lift the control arm straight and turn the hub the drive shaft turns smoothly, but the right axle shaft has the tiniest bit of off center when i turn the hub, so Im thinking I should just replace everything in the back except the differential. How do i disconnect the axle shaft from the differential!? i cant figure it out, do I have to pull the back of the diff off?

abunaiS12Oct 24, 2006, 11:15 am · #7

I think it was smashed glass that told me there were six bolts to disconnect the axle shaft from the diff. I couldn't figure out what the fuck he was talking about I didnt see six bolts anywhere!? then i noticed this picture on good ol clubs12

mine is a se and the other is from a xe so obviously theres differences

notice the six bolts on a plate thing that connects the axle shaft to the diff. on mine theres no such bolts like that or there covered somehow that i dont know about notice mine has no bolts in sight. so im stumped for the moment. everything in the rear is disconnected except for axle shaft which is just the slightest bit off center when i turn the hub so i wanna replace the whole thing. SO DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GET THE AXLE SHAFT OUT OF THE DIFF??? IM INEXPERIENCED IN DOING THIS

If there aren't any bolts, then it just pops out... I could have sworn that the S12's R200 had bolt flanges like the 240sx's, but I guess not.

ok so then all i have to do is disconnect the six bolts that connect it to the wheel hub and then just pull it out?

Thats what i said: on the R180 the shaft is held in the diff by a cir-clip.

I can't help u, but I can tell u this: get a repair manual. chilton has a good one (the only one, I think). everything is in it. go to the library and borrow one.

SmashedGlassOct 24, 2006, 9:13 pm · #12

or try www.autozone.com they have online repair information, make/model/year specific.

sam31183Oct 24, 2006, 10:01 pm · #13

or just go on ebay and see if you can actually find the real fsm for your year s12. I have an chiltons for the s12 and it also covers the 240sx and the stanza and i really need to burn that book because it is the most useless piece of crap on the planet.

Man I gotta tell you, they don't come cheap. I've found a few of them, and they're pretty pricey. I think they are worth it tho.

Here is one.

i only paid like 15 to 30 bucks for mine and I got to tell you...they are much better then any chiltons or haynes or any of those. Only thing I wish they had was an index at the end.

if you dident get them out yet. make sure you drain the diff fluid first or you will have a mess. I noticed in the pic the drain plug looked like it was not removed. and you might need a pry bar to pop the axels out. but like was said before they just come out no bolts.

I removed the axle, with a small screwdriver, it was amazingly easy and made me feel stupid. There was no mess at all, and i didn't drain anything. the entire right rear suspension is disconnected, now all i have to do is disconnect the brake line and that other line, (fluid of some type, grease, oil?) that connects to the control arm and to the brake. i figure i should just replace the whole rear suspension with z31, because i got a good look at the back of one and it looks EXACTLY the same and so does the pic in the service manual of a z31. I have the vg30 also so i dont see why they wouldnt be the same. So Im gonna go to the junkyard tommorow and look for a 300zx! as for the front im still confused at what to do.  i wanna replace everything in the front with s13 but i just dont see how that would work they look very different. as for the s14 option i dont think ill find one but if i do im all over it. so wish me luck. Ill let you know what works for the SEv6 suspension. one question how do i get those lines disconnected so i can remove all my bent shit and throw it away, it looks like its simple but i cant get those fuckers off.

I guess most of your diff fluid leaked out over the 15 or so years the car has bin around. you got any pic or the " fuckers " you need to get off. the onlt other line I can think of is the ebrake cable that runs through the subframe.

Yeah Nik found a junk yard. It has all the parts he needs. Were gunna go get the parts tomorrow. They also have a hood in semi-good condition... Were gunna try that hood scoop fabrication idea...
