Well i'm probably about to buy a vg30e with 80'000 miles from an '84 300zx on ebay and was wondering when swapped if everything would plug in from the s12 harness or if there would be anything else different with vaccum lines and stuff like that.

You'll need to swap over your upper intake manifold, exhaust manifold, engine mounts, crank pulley, and accessories from your old VG. That will make it fit correctly and wire up properly.
Well its just old and tired and the valvetrain ticks bad and i dont have time to mess with a rebuild so I just want a 300zx motor with low miles
when i blew my motor i got one from an 85300zx with 40k on it. dont forget to change ur dip stick to the other side and u still have to use the 200sx oil pan since its a rear sump but the wires should hook up just fine.
DOH! Good catch 88. I forgot to mention the oil pan, oil pickup tube, and dipstick location.
Well im gonna hold off on a new motor for a while since i got it to run better but thanks for all the info. I might try and get a jdm vg30 if i can find one
There is no advantage in a JDM VG30E. Same motor. Plus you'll still have to swap all that stuff over, since the VG S12 was unique to the U.S. Japan did not get them.
I know there is no difference, I just want one with uber low miles. Well since I just got my ca18det 240 on the road i'm gonna hold off on buying stuff for the s12 for a while.
