I've swap my tranny to manual there's a month ago and god the tranny ratio look short as hell... 4k rpm at 120km/h (75miles/h) It`s the MKII CA20E with a R180 diff..

Are these number in the average?

That sounds pretty close to right.Mine's at about 3,500 rpm at 65mph. Causes me large highway stress(and exessive wear). I try to avoid the interstates when possible. Not real good for long distance travel. All the 4cyls got 4.11s. Nice for findin cornering power though.

couldnt you just upshift it to whatever gear is above to reduce wear? you wouldnt have crap for acceleration power, but it'd be easier on your engine, wouldnt it?

I don't really get what ya mean but he's already in the last gear(5th) at those speeds and rpm's. Those numbers look pretty normal to me btw

it's about right (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I just go by the rpm on the highway. try to keep it at around 3500 for highway cruising. it's awful slow for such a high rev. the noise drives you nuts for long distance, although I survived a 6 hours trip at one time.

exactly what I did last weekend. 6h30 at around 3800rpm.. The water temp stay in the normal, oil pressure was a bit past the middle of the gauge all the travel.

And even with that ratio the car is still cheaper on the fuel than my '84 celica at 3200rpm! appart of the lack of performance the CA20 is still a good and reliable engine!

Yeah My Old SE used to have a 4.30:1 rear end in it instead of the 3.90 yeah my gas mileage sucked

4.3? *drooool*
I'm on 3.7, it sucks the nuts... 1st gear, 90k's an hour at 8,000RPM

im running a 4.375 and that equates to 3,300 rpm at 100kph. thirsty as, but i can think of worse things to listen than the fj20et (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

^ Yeah I liked the sound of My VG30E so the 4.30 didnt bother me to much . Just its low redline made 1st gear interesting, or for a better word useless..

Where did you get 4.30:1? Nissan parts lists nothing steeper than 4.11:1 for the R200. And I have yet to locate an aftermarket vendor.

nissan r31 turbo skylines have a factory fitted r200 with a 4.375:1 ratio.

although the body tag calls it a RC44 or 4.4:1 ratio.
