8-9 psi and yes plug it there's a write-up somewhere search it and it should tell you what size I think it's a 1 inch plug from home depot or lowes got mine from lowes

thanks i pluged it tonight it runns alot better .i think the spring in mine was going bad because it was opening at like 6 or 7 pounds of boost when i floored it and it would hesitate like a bitch but now no more hesitation and im boosting 7 pounds stock so i happy

good to know I never felt a difference in mine but then mine wasn't acting funny either

This may have been the reason for your poor fuel economy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) with the air being let out= rich.

yeah it prolly had a slow leak at any amount of throtle it just wasnt noticable untill i floored it but it all better now running faster then ever i just put a boost controler in today but im leaving it at the 6 to 7 pounds that it was running before

if you like it a 6-7 you'll lovee it at 10-12 lol

lol yeah i would how much boost can the stock motor safly run with no intercooler? like 10 pounds right?

Somewhere around there, but it depends a great deal on how the car was taken care of, oil changes, etc. and how good of condition the bearings are in (oil pressure level should be a sign of that), rings, carbon deposits in the cylinder head, etc. Best thing to do is pick up an air/fuel mixture gauge, and watch your levels as you up the boost SLOWLY and do so while listening for detonation (it works good to drive near a wall or building or something that will reflect back the sound) and under different levels of load (acceleration). A healthy stock block (a JDM one say with like 40 or 60K mi) may take up to 14 psi, but not only is the turbo producing a lot of heat (its way outside of its efficiency range) but you start to have detonation. If your motor is solid, running good, tuned right, with correct spark and adequate fuel (most important!) then 12 psi can be done. Keep in mind now that all of the CA18's are 22 years old, so not many of them are in that great of shape! I guarentee nothing lol! An intercooler is a great way to reduce a lot of heat and stress, stock boost or otherwise....

x2...

yeah i dont plan on boosting more then 6 or 7 dayly and like 8 or 9 at the drift events

OzchuckOct 13, 2007, 12:43 pm · #12

I promise you, drifting on an non-intercooled 9PSI will kill your engine.
You may get 2-3 events out of it but thats all.

22 year old stock engine = about to die
22 year old engine with extra stress = doomed to a chaotic demise!

Engine wear aside, running the T2 that high is out of its normal efficiency range.
