I got a problem..
I am trying to install an Nismo s13 LSD into my 200 diff.
With the nismo kit I got those short shafts that goes into the diff.
And it looks like i have to use them, because the s12 shafts dont fit propably into the nismo unit. They are acctually a bit to thin.

And the nismo shafts wont fit a s12 shaft, because its s13 flanges on them.

So will some s13 shafts fit in my s12? Or are they to long/short?
Anyone got a solution on my problem?

Hope you understand my bad writing
Thanks
Martin

I recommend you do the search feature and read all the LSD conversion threads for your answer.
There is an answer for your problem, and I'm pretty sure it involves using S13 shafts.

I have read all posts i could find about this.
And it is only the old stuff about using 2 left inner s12 shafts and modify the ends like an s13 shaft and all that.... But I cant do that.

Because the orginal s13 or s12 innershafts dont fit the Nismo LSD, the only inner shafts that fits this LSD is the ones that Nismo makes, and came with the LSD. and they have only a S13 flage!

So can i use left and right s13 shafts all the way?

Well, hopefully you can, because if you can't, you're pretty fucked, arent you?

Quite the dilemma. Good luck.

Ah, you guys, good encouragement (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) lol...

Make friends with some S13 guys and see if they have extra parts you can study, or maybe borrow to see if they match. Or raid a junkyard car S13 and compare parts there. I don't know of anyone who has installed the Nismo LSD on here yet, so if you do find a solution please post it up. I'd say just about anything is possible (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) A driveshaft/axle rebuilder should be able to piece something together if nothing else, maybe using your new stuff plus S13 hardware. Do you have any pics of your problem, like the parts? I would be interested in eventually getting a genuine Nismo LSD because that would be of good quality (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) so don't get discouraged you'll figure it out eventually lol. I've got extra halfshafts if you need donors for cut-and-fit operation.

Did you buy the Nismo lsd for an R200 VLSD unit? If so, that is why you are most likely having problems. Anyway, you know how people were saying if you wanted VLSD, you'd have to swap S12/S13 shaft hybrids? Try imagining you are doing a VLSD conversion, but instead of using the S13 input shaft, use the Nismo ones in place. Hopefully that should work. Remember, ALWAYS assume the worse case scenario, since we are mis-matching/hybrid-ing/frankenstein-ing parts.

Go s13 Rear subframe! lol seriosuly tho any drive shaft shop shoudl be able to make you a shaft to fitusing those nismo outputs, s13 shafts and your stock s12 ones

i dont believe s13's will work, without some customization. the problem is that the nismo one came with its own s13 output flanges. probably best to find one thats able to use stock s13 diameter output flanges. this is the gt pro, right?

Yes its the gt pro. Nismo lsd for an R200 open unit, not VLSD.

I found this a pic that shows what i need! The shaft on the right side looks perfect, if the
lenght is right! I think this is a S13 shaft. just need two of those (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) The flages look right on booth sides of the shaft..

It looks like this diff in the pic uses s13 right side shaft on an s12 car.
And the only difference on the s12 left and right shaft is 8mm, so i should be able to space it out 8mm on the flage !

I will get an S13 car to look at later to day (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

If all this works, i wil make an "how to" on the nismo LSD

Sweet man, I would really really appreciate that. Do you have the part number for that thing? And if you don't mind me asking, how much it was? That is just the differential part, correct, so you are going to need to disassemble the pumpkin? Just make sure the shims go back in the same order! Keep us updated!

I can find the part no later. The price was the same as a Kaas LSD, but this is adjusable and all that so I just bought this instead.
Yes this is just the inner differensial part. Here is a pic of what i got

http://www.driftshop.com.au/diff_files/nismo2way5.jpg

I have assembled the diff and everything fits perfect. Just that i have to use the inner axsles that is in the pic, with s13 flages.

it looks like they mated the inner part of an s13 shaft to the stock s12 shaft

Rally MartinOct 14, 2007, 6:22 pm · #16

From what it look like now. A s13 shaft wil fitt the long side, but not the short one (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Yes, on the pic it looks like s12 ends (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) But mine are like s13, just 1-1.5mm thicker. So the s12 end wont fitt, i even think the s13 wont fit
.
But i have found out that s14a have thicker ends like mine have! Maybe because the LSD will then fitt s13 s14 and s14a. If you use the shafts that came with the LSD on the s13 and s14.

Man this Nismo LSD seems like a headache. All the more reason I wanna opt for the rare 300zx LSD's. My Dad has one in his z31 and it works great.

OzchuckOct 16, 2007, 1:54 am · #19

The LSD unit itself suits the S14 innder shafts.
They adapt these using the half shafts they supplied for use in a S13.
Looks like you might have to tear and frankenstein up some shafts around the CV joint, like see if you can use a half S13, half S12 drive shaft.

not to mention doing this would make dropping the diff 10x easier
