Hi guys,
I need some pics or drawings of the driveshaft for a SR20DET w/gearbox on my mk2 with "C" tranny.
If got S12 driveshaft(s) and manual s14a driveshaft
I red that it must shorted like 10/11mm, welded and balanced.
Any more advices? Will be very helpull.
Cheers.

The Driveshaft Thread
Normally with the C trans, you can use the front half of an S13 driveshaft, bolted to the rear of an S12 one.
I'm not sure if there is a difference in length with the S14 one.
Bellhousing swap?
Thanks mate! But s13(with CA or SR motor?) front shaft + s12 rear shaft must be cutted, welded and balanced, right?
I'd like to keep SRmotor+Sr box because the bellhouding swap need more work; i'd prefer the easiest way.
Thanks guys (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
USDM (Canadian maybe too. I know JDM won't work.) S13 front driveshaft section from manual trans car. Your stock rear section. No cutting or welding. They bolt right up. Just take note of how thw U joints are phased and duplicate that when you put it together.
Heres the floor mod.

And my finished shifter area. I recommend a short throw shifter to avoid issues when trying to use reverse.

No s13 front (manual) section to s12 rear section doesn't need cut weld and balance. You simply bolt the s13 front section to the s12 rear section.
I said it before, and I'll say it again, Iggy. That is NOT the way to cut the floor (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol.gif)
Gerry, are you able to get some pics of the work you did to the shifter, console, and floor of yours?

USDM (Canadian maybe too. I know JDM won't work.) S13 front driveshaft section from manual trans car.
why do you say that? the jdm driveshaft is the same length as the usdm/cdm driveshaft.
the only difference is that the jdm shaft uses another u-joint in place of the stupid donut that the usdm shaft uses.
if you are saying that because of the dust shield, you can just pop that off, but thats if you are trying to use a usdm shaft in a jdm trans, the big rubber donut wont fit in the shield made for the jdm u-joint.
and whoever else said it, yes, the s14 shaft is different in length, and the carrier bearings is opposite on them.

I think he says it only because needCAfors13(I think it was him) has attempted in fitting the jdm shaft awhile ago and it didn't work. I don't remember the details however.
well its 730am and i have not gone to sleep yet. im wide awake.
so off to the garage i go to snap some pictars.
Hi, guyz;
Thanks for precious infomations.
Yes, in France we have th ca18det s13.
I'll wait for pics (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
here's the usdm shaft and jdm shaft together. usdm is on top.
(IMG:http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a113/chugger2k/picture041.jpg)
like i said, the front halves are interchangeable, only difference is the u-joint vrs rubber gebo.
they both fit the same into the s13 trans
(IMG:http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a113/chugger2k/picture043.jpg)
(IMG:http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a113/chugger2k/picture044.jpg)
the rear halves of the 2 shafts are interchangeable, if the usdm front bolts to the s12 rearm, the jdm will as well
(IMG:http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a113/chugger2k/picture040.jpg)
i dont have a s14 shaft here, and i cant fing a good pic, but see how the carrier bearing is on the front half of the s12/13 shaft? on the s14 its on the rear half.
if any of you arent scared to spend some money, i have a shaftmasters.com 1 piece aluminum shaft in my car, and its amazing.
oh, and also, this is what happens to the rubber donut if you have any combination of power/traction. or in my case a s13 convertible with 6 girls sitting in/on it and do a burnout with big tires on the back.

thanks for clearing it up, I wonder why it didn't fit in for sean. Regardless, that U-joint looks a bit more desirable than the USDM rubber bushing deal.
IMO the bell swap is the easiest way, that way you don't need to do ANY cutting at all, no messing with drive shafts, the only down side is that you have to have either a specific B trans or a C trans, and the number of miles that are on your stock drive line.
Bell swap isn't that hard, just need a front half gasket set (for the front oil seal and the front cover gasket, though permatex will do for that), and a few bolt out, pop off the cover, remove the snapring, pull the bell off, put the new one on, and replace whatever you took off.

Sorry Dean I've been up the Sunshine Coast on holidays so have just seen this. The cutting in the floor on mine is the same as everybody elses. I probably cut mine a little wider and longer than some as I have the shifter plate sitting through the floor about 1cm, (to lift the back of the engine a little higher and the front a little lower).
Difference is that I didn't hack up the console, just moved it towards the rear about 2cm.

just had a strange idea, not sure if its a viable option or not, but on the rubber doughnut on the USDM driveshaft, would it be stronger if it was filled with polyurethane or would this cause balancing issues?
Just source a JDM shaft and be done with it.
It's pointless trying to make chocolate out of shit.

Ah, the things we break for pussy.
Really?
Awesome news for us! Hope you'll make some pics in the futur
good
Only trouble is mate that people that have run 1 piece driveshafts on s12's (mostly ca18det, sr20,Fj engined ones otherwise why would you bother??), have found that the gbox seals leak. They change them and the replacements leak and so on. Most people that have gone 1 piece have reported this, this is on IRS suspension s12's mostly and they've changed back to 2 piece. If yours is a 4 link solid diff model you may be okay can't remember if those boys had problems.

Mine does not leak, and I have a one piece with IRS.. I think that it might have something to do with improper drive shaft length.
i have had a one piece for years now and no leaks . still original seal.
Ah well there you go then. So talk to these guys about their setups and you'll be right.
i also have a one piece in my racecar, dont know when it was installed, but ive had the car 6yrs and no leaks....
