Hey everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone knows what kind of gas mileage a CA18DET gets in an S12 vs what a CA18ET would get. I know that my CA20E wasn't very good on gas.

I have an S12 notchback shell and a CA18DET motor for it. I'm considering doing the swap, but there is a guy who might trade me his CA18ET fastback for my project.

Fuel economy is a factor, so I'm wondering what your guys think.

I get anywhere from 350 - 380kms per tank...

I have no tune either, so I'm running very rich.

I'll second Indecisive... I get mediocre gas mileage but it's because I have no tune and am running very rich.

a bone stock perfectly working CA20E should get around 30mpg

i would imagine the DET gets better mpg because it's basically a updated and improved version of the ET.

all comes down to how much you flog the car too. if youre always gassing it and driving fast, your gas is gonna go down faster

Gotten everything from 10mpg at the track to 35mpg on the freeway (I stayed out of boost for 2 hours) But with normal driving I was getting 20~25.

you do know that you will be running premium in either of the turbo engines, right?
