Someone recently on Nico said a ca18et starter works.....I thought I remember reading a long time ago that it wouldn't work....so I dunno

It wont work due to descrepncies in the ring gear teeth.

CA18ET/CA20E starters are the same, and I know that the CA20E one wont work with the DET flywheel, as I've tried.

well what about ones that are internaly the same? like the sohc ka and sr are swapable. also are their any others that use the same solonoid as the cadet?

Swap the solenoid over, and let us know how it goes.
