Longer Wheel Stud
im a handling noob if you will, does the longer wheel stud make your wheels clear larger brakes??
i dont know to tell you, but you can get bigger and wider wheel and they might help clear the wheel

For some cases yes. Like for instance a Z32 or R32 caliper. They are much bigger and need more clearance to fit. Our cars are naturally not able to accommodate this. But with this setup, you can push your wheels a bit further out allowing for a larger one and bigger lip and for bigger calipers for better brakes.
I thought spacers already came with studs pressed into the spacer? Thats how mine were anyways.
Good find though...come in handy if I break a stud or something..like I did in my Maxima a few years ago
two types
bolt on spacers - attached studs
[
slip on spacers - needs longer studs
Which of these 2 is the better option?
well would you rather bolt them on or take out your stock studs and put new ones in? The bolt on ones are also considered much safer, I know for a fact that most tire shops will not work on cars with SLIP ON spacers

I would never trust slip on spacers....
Here is what mine look like

I vouch for a bolt in type spacer.
ah shit i didnt know i could use j30 studs for longer replacements! good to know
On Grand Prix I want to myself such!!
Front 10 mm
Rear 30 mm
ive had bad luck with slipons my rim sheared my lugs of and my wheel came off my car.... i was on surface streets though all that was left was one lug......
nismo studs..... like 75.00
bolt on spacers are better for sure but ill use small slip ons like no more than 5mm wide to get perfectly flush
I swapped over to 12x1.5mm thread pitch because I already had a ton of forged aluminum lug nuts laying around. You can get extended studs from your local parts house for an F-Body GM and they fit perfectly. The part number is Dorman 610-323 and they are 19mm longer than OE. Best thing is they are cheaper than the J30 studs, they are $1.49 each here.
Bolt On Adapters are definitely the way to go.

Bolt On Adapters are definitely the way to go.
True, but definitely not beneficial unless you are going to need 15mm or more.
Extended studs are also necessary to be able to use after market lug nuts, safely. Our cars were designed to run Extended Thread lug nuts to compensate for the short studs. Obviously, in order to use your average conical seat nuts you need more thread to grab a hold of. People who lose their wheels are the ones who use slip on spacers without extended studs or are retarded and go over 13mm without bolt-on spacers.

I agree. I wouldn't go over 10mm with a slip on, personally.
DriftHappyyeah on my rears, theres not much thread engagement, i wouldnt feel safe running spacers back there. the fronts are a different story, i could probably get away with 10mm

I work at a fountain tire, and i havent seen the bolt on types before. Worked on a few vehicles with the slip ons tho, mostly jacked up trucks and such.
Havent ever realy had a problem with em, they're pretty much like having fatter rotors... but i def like the look of the bolt on ones for sure, especialy with the center ring still there to mount on.
Is it possible to get ones that would alter the bolt pattern as well ?
LyniumIs it possible to get ones that would alter the bolt pattern as well ?yes, theyre a little more pricey though
Anyone have links to these things? or are they pretty much always a custom order?
(Just for my own curiousity and for future readers/researchers)
They have the most common conversion spacers on eBay but any of your more odd bolt patterns will have to be custom ordered.
went to the local autoparts store and none of those wheel studs are any longer than oem s12/s13 studs which are the exaxt same, i matched every single one stated up to the new s12/s13 studs and they are all the exact same and some were even shorter! so dont count on getting longer wheel studs with this information.
did you try the part No. ?
thats not even long enough to be a nappa part number
then i even cross referenced every bolt they carried and nothing was longer in 12x1.25
the ones i got where longer. so i dont know what to tell you
alright well the ones you said i purchased and sourced from two different locations selling studs for all vehicles. I went to a NAPPA and a Partsource and all were the same length some shorter
