well i had the s13 conversion in mind, but 2 guys flaked on me already. and i also thought about running the megan coilovers but i think that would be way ouf of my budget since im in HS and i dont work.
what are other alternatives for the front? I want it to be adjustable. Im unsure about the Ground Control Kits because idk how those would work? people say welding is required and others say it doesnt require it. Can someone help me out.
also im going to be running the rear suspension "Mod_Mastaz" has on his car.
thanks for the help.

Front Suspension
why not go ssc lowering springs and tokico illumina or koni shocks. what are you tryna do with the car.?
SSC is kinda high for my taste. its because im either going to be running 0 offset or maybe negative. I want to ride low and handle decent.
this is how low i was when i had my civic which handled pretty well.

Going lower and better handling are not a 1 to 1 correlation. If you go too low, you sacrifice handling.

X 1 billion
S12 has trailing arms in the rear, the lower you go the worse your camber gets theres a line between it though, if you go over that line like modz mastaz said you'll lose handling. as for the front... don't but coilovers do that stuff later when you have a supporting job.
for now just get a stock S13 front end.

On almost all suspension, the lower you go the more negative camber you get. That goes for the fronts too, Jeffwin. It's just that the rears*(on our cars) get more extreme the lower you go. Also, on other suspensions they can correct it, whereas we cannot(yet).
Don't get stock S13 fronts. Just save your money. Stay stock until you do have money.

mcpherson front will never ever ever ever ever gain camber with lowering
now doublewishbone and hondafag stuff alike will definitely gain camber with lowering

Don´t agree with you.
Definitely possible (and usualy used on nearly every modern McPherson)
All depending in strut angle and geometry of the LCA.
However there is always a changeover point, at which camber gets less again)
im runnin 0 offset enkei's but im not lowered yet i think the ssc will suit me but to each his own.... u can go with the weld-on coilover setup.

In order to use the megan coilovers you need to do the s13 front conversion anyway.
another option for adjustable front (w/o goin s13) is bartco's coils
imo s13 conversion > groundcontrol setup
Or just buy this: http://www.club-s12.org/forums/index.php?s...c=25268&hl=

show me a mcpherson car that gains camber with lowering
The S12, S13, S14, BMW E30, DSM 1g/2g, Evo8/9, Wrx/STi, etc etc. Ask Sterling what his camber was before he corrected it when he lowered his vehicle. Ask Chris(zilvia_brothers) what his current camber is with the SSC versus his stock suspension. Chris is still out of spec but it's fine since he could use some negative camber up front anyway.
Yes, the front suspension negative camber isn't as noticeable as the rears when you lower it, but if you lower a vehicle, it will bring the camber in, as well as throw the toe(or thrust) setting off. Most vehicles can correct the issue while some can't or require buying camber correction kits or eccentric bolts.
Also on the point with the "hondafag" stuff, the double wishbone is much better suspension than macphersons on tarmac. Their dynamic camber curve is much better because it contours to the road, whereas the Macpherson setup resists camber changes while the suspension travels. That's the reason S13/S14 guys usually have so much more static negative camber up front that in the rear. Double wishbone does suck for offroad/gravel/rally though because they don't have enough suspension travel.
KDL323: Just buying an entire S13 front end is not enough. You also need ADJUSTABLE S13/S14 tension rods, aftermarket s13 tie rods(inner and outers) with bump steer spacers(recommended) and also s13 coilovers. The stock s13 spring and shock are too large and WILL BIND if you put them inside the S12 strut tower. I would advise you from doing an S13 conversion right off the bat because it will cost you more then if you just get SSC/Konis(this setup will out handle most of the cars on these forums, mine included). Opps I forgot to mention you will need S14 tension rod brackets too, because the S13 tension rod brackets and stock S12s will not work(unless you use the entire S12 tension rod assembly).

well i spoke to a friend of mine who referred me to a shop, and i got a pretty good deal on s12 megan coilovers w/ s13 fronts. it was 680.
and im hoping that tonight im meeting some guy who is selling me the whole front s13 suspension. he told me it comes with the spindle, calipers, brake pads, lcas, rotors, hubs, knuckles and brakes.
i believe they come with the bolts too.
well for 680 i would have taken them too , if i was in your position (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Good buy!
Post some info on how they work when you´ve got them installed.
regarding camber. nothing to add to mod mastaz reply.
ill still need to collect a bit more parts and ill be set.
hopefully in the next week or 2 weeks. i should be acquiring all these parts :
s14 tension rod bracket
s13 tension rod
s13 lca
s13 tie rods in & out
s13 hub
s13 ball joint
s13 spindle
s13 brakes
s13 coilovers
am i missing anything?
Yeah all that is good.
+ Bolts
+ I would recommend new bushings for everything.
One more thing if your building the car for dorifto! i would suggest dropping a few buck ($8-10) on some steering rack spacers for more angle (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup2.gif)

haha well for now its going to be my DD, than maybe in a year or 2 ill swap it. CA20 will do for now haha
sounds like you've got a good list going. megans for 680 is hella cheap. they aren't the best in terms of coilover options, but pretty good for a dd.
there are a number of us that are fairly local, if you want to kick it sometime and ask some ?s.
