It started 3 weeks ago. when the engine is cold, seems to run and boost fine. But when you shut her down and let it sit for 30 or so min, It starts to skip. If you are light on the throttle, not much skip. But full throttle starts to skip horribly. I've changed plugs and 8mm Belding "racing" wires. the TPS seems fine, fuel pressure is fine. tonight it was really bad and I smelled a lot of fuel. So I'm thinking it's a spark problem.
I need some suggestions!!!
KEEP IN MIND I've got an Electromotive TEC II engine management. It uses Corvette coil packs, MAP,and IAC. So people think outside the box. I'm ready to blow this thing up!!!!!!! rant.gif
Misfiring ?
Check your injectors & temp sensor and also look to see if any error codes are coming up. If that fails try vodka and mango blueberry, alcohol fixes everything... innocent.gif
temp sensor= good
injectors =????
I'm leaning toward 2 possibilities:
1. a coil heating up and missing
2. #4 plug boot bad
the reasoning for #2 is(I'll catch some grief) my wires are custom made. I used Belding Pro Street( the red ones) 8mm wires. I had to cut to size and recrimp the terminals. The original terminals were 90 degree, So I re-used some straight terminals/boots. But on #4, I reused the boot from my original set. I might want to go and buy some new boots.
Opinions please!!!!!!!!!
Well, just got home from church. I replaced #4 boot. Also did a google search and came up with something I never heard of. Electromotive trouble shooting suggested I clean any dirt & oil from around the coils & sparkplugs as these could cause arcing. Apparently the TEC produces enough juice to cause "dirt" arcing. I cleaned the coils, but it started raining before I could make it to the head( there is some oil and dirt around the plugs). So it ran fine so far, we'll see tomorrow when I drive it to work.
What are your afr's?

What are your afr's?
Afr's are in the green when cold, A little rich when missing. I'm leaning toward a bad coil, GM coils start this when going bad according to a friend of mine who works for Hendrick Chevrolet. I need to replace my laptop battery so I can do some data logging to see everything in real time.

+1 on your buddy's advice. If you can, isolate which two cyl's are misfiring, and switch the coils packs. see if the misfire follows the coil.
finally had a chance to work on it today. I replaced both coilpacks, then drove it for about an hour. No problems, so hopefully thats it. Now it's on to purchasing some MSD coils.linky
