alright well i stripped a drive shaft bolt which sucks, since im doing a KA swap and going with a 1 peice (originally auto.
so
i tried to drop the diff.
unbolted all the 12 mm bolts on each output shaft, the four long bolts (pita to get to) and the bolt holding the brace to the bushing thing into the body.
now it drops to the floor but the half shafts wont come off. on my s13 you can separate them and then theres a stubby output shaft that goes into the diff.
what am i missing.
i did search with multiple key words and i guess im not using the right lingo
any help would be nice

Out Shaft Removal (r180) ?
The half shafts should just pop out, some times it takes a little force.
Try taking two pry bars or large flat head screwdrivers, and pop them out.
yea read the above post
drop your shocks, and your springs might pop out a bit too. but whatever gets the job done
or use vicegrips on the driveshaft bolts or cut them off and get new ones, whichever
this bellhousing swap was done with a "c" series trans only.
for use when swapping in a nissan engine that requires a bellhousing swap...i.e. ka,sr,ca, etc.
or if ya just need to swap bellhousings for some reason
most "c" trans bellhousing procedures are typically the same. i'll also cover how to check your trans for visual wear while you have it open.
so to begin........
NISSAN BELLHOUSING SWAP 101
tools.....
sockets- 10mm, 12mm, 17mm
wrench- 10mm, 12mm, 19mm
2 flathead screwdrivers
hammer
pick of some sort---i used a small screwdriver
snap ring pliers
magnet
needle nose pliers
high temp rtv sealant
gasket paper
something to clean with---i used laq. thinner--works great
rags
saving for later
Excellent text, info and pictures! I removed my CA18ET 'bell' to save the newer improved internals for use with my Z24. The bell I swapped for a complete KA24E head... (sucker) My tranny was an '85 and was a B type but with most C internals less the shifter. Again good wright up!

Good info, but you don't need to disassemble it that much, just the front half is all that's needed.
Unless of course you need to fix something in the tail housing, but otherwise I wouldn't bother blowing apart the shifter and all that crap.
silvia love
.....the tailshaft does not have to be removed for a bellhousing swap, i do it to look at my bearings. which everyone should do.
smacks forehead

I have the c transmission that is going to be going into my SE with my 5spd swap. I know it will slide into the transmission but I was wondering if it is the right length and everything else? please let me know thank you! Please excuse my grandpa shoes...its late and I didn't feel like putting my chucks on haha
No it is not. The S13 transmission is longer, so the front section of the driveshaft is shorter than the S12 version.
Also, the S12 C trans uses a different driveshaft front section than the B trans. You will need a C trans shaft if you have the S12 C trans in your car.
The S13 front driveshaft section is only used with the S12 rear section when switching to an S13 transmission.

alright thank you, im just so use to the z31 stuff haha. Im still a noob with the s12
caNt u use a s13 trans?
If you have the S13 or Z31 trans, go with that and the S13 front driveshaft. Instead of having to spend 50 bucks for a driveshaft, you can spend 10 for modifying the trans mount.
S13 C trans gets my vote

You have one that you want to sell? haha

i think jay meant the driveshafts need to be changed because of the length of the trans. either way he is right about what parts you need.
ah, then I might just pull the transmission out of my z31 and modify the transmission mount and while I am at it take the 6 puck off of it

If the trans is out of the Z31, you'll still need a KA bellhousing, which are super cheap and easy to find. Other than that your idea is solid.
why would he need a ka bellhousing to put a z31 trans behind his vg30 powered s12 se?
well my s12 is now an auto with a clutch pedal baby steps but oh well. This weekend im probably going to start dropping the transmission out of the z31 and take the clutch and flywheel along with it. I just need to find how to trick the neutral safety switch. I did it on the z31 when I swapped auto to manual on it but idk if it is the same. I will have to dig into that later.
ew...I looked at the write up http://club-s12.org/v3/index.php?topic=18215
and I don't want to cut the floor or anything. I would like to keep the interior looking stock and not for the shifter all up in the e brakes face..so now I guess im going to keep a look out for a s12 front drive shaft for now..
