Sofar its a bolt on replacement but now I have 2 problems.

The centerpart in the diffs are diffrent sizes. The c200 centerpart needs some machining.
(Already fixed it)

The second and not so easy problem is that the "tracks" where the clips that holds the shafts in position is missing. Dont really know how to fix it yet but it need some machining.

mind to measure the width of the c200 looks like it might make a nice swap for us sra guys

kyskaterAug 10, 2009, 9:57 pm · #3

also what is it out of?

roadieAug 11, 2009, 8:45 am · #4
kyskateralso what is it out of?

Its from a D21 Truck 4wd Diesel.

The axle has 6bolt wheelhubs and really big drumbrakes..Dont think that anyone wants it on a s12.

... if only you knew lol

Never heard of a D-21 Hardbody with diesel motor. Sure it isn't an old 720 diesel motor maybe a SD 22 or SD25? The diesel was never used in the 4X4 but someone could have shoehorned it into a later D-21 I guess. Only the 4cyl D-21s had the C-200 rears.

He's in Sweden, different motor selections.

i found it on the courtsey  nissan  sight thanks

I have fixed the c-clip tracks  Damn the gears are hard..took 20mins on each side.

So now its a bolt on replacement but Im going to add a shim or two to get 30% more breakaway torque.

Awesome!

You know, I was kinda wondering how you were going to cut the groove in that. Pretty neat setup.

kyskaterSep 10, 2009, 2:33 pm · #12

would you mind to measure the distance between the ends of the housing

Navy_Mech2Oct 5, 2009, 10:28 am · #13

Must be nice to have machining tools like that at your disposal lol

roadieDec 9, 2009, 4:40 am · #14

It works great

Took a long time but now I have tested the truck clsd.

I dont understand why Nissan didnt use this lsd instead of a open. Its much funnier to drive now.

I also added two 0,18mm steel shim to get higher breakaway torque.

So did you machine the little lip on the one on the right? and if so how exactly did you do that and it still be useable?
XanoDec 9, 2009, 6:55 am · #16

The groove on the right one is the factory made groove.  He machined the left one, but that is a before pic.  Though I know i probably didn't answer your question haha.

roadieDec 9, 2009, 7:25 am · #17

In post #10 there is pics on how the machining was done. And also a pic of a gear after machining. The gear to the right in your question is a stock one from a open diff like xano wrote.

sideways_s12Dec 10, 2009, 1:58 am · #18

ok sorry I'm lost lol So you machined the one on the left what did you do about the groove or did you machine the groove into it? because the groove on the one on the right looks more like a lip and it I assume it would be hard to machine a lip onto a smooth surface sorry I'm just trying to get a btter understanding as I would like to do the same.

Also you didn't use the stock s12 one right?

No. I didnt machine the stock one.. Its only a plain cut in the c200 gear.

ohhhhhh ok I get it now but so the cut replaced the the lip and works the same?

lip?

The stock R200 gears has a cut for the clip and I machined the C200 gears so it has exactly the same cut.

Inside of R200 gear look exactly like inside of machined C200 gear.
sideways_s12Dec 17, 2009, 9:24 am · #22

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ok I thought the r200 had a lip the pic is deceiving I thought it was a lip not a groove for the clip I totally get it now ......sorry it took me so long to understand sometimes I'm a paint by numbers kinda guy lol

that you are  kidding man.

anyways, this makes me want a CLSD, or at least have my diff welded.

well his mod seems easy enough with the right tools...
