dont swap it, transmissions are available from your regular old parts stores.  one version of the Z transmission MIGHT work.  i dont believe anyone has tried.

o ok.like it runs pretty hard as a auto, but stick would give me more of an advantage

i seem to always have g35`s on my ass askin for trouble

And you always will regardless of the transmission. The G35 is far more powerful. Now, should you do something crazy like a cool remote mount turbo setup or whatever, then you'll run away from him with a little bit of tuning.

Go look at MC's build thread for his remote mount setup in the "Club-S12 Garage" section I believe. Should be plenty of inspiration for you.

As far as the trans goes, I see SE trannies now and then... just keep in mind that I think the gearing is different between the SE MTX and the 4-cylinder MTX. You will also need the driveshaft front section from either an SE or a later (86 1/2 - 88) manual trans 4-cyl car.

Three different 5spds were used in the Z-31s, two of which were used in the '87 year model. The non turbo 300zx FS5W71C has the exact same main and counter drive gear sets as the '87 S-12 VG30E tranny. Nissan # 32200 V5255. Can't confirm that the trannys are the same length.

300 zx trannys are longer.
