Mainly in question, the 5/R fork.. Im pretty sure mine is broke (how I have no f'n clue) since its stuck in reverse and the shifter moves around like normal and will go in every gear (except 5th).. The car only moves in reverse though..

Basically, it has all the signs of a broke shift fork.. Just curious as to who has ever broken one before?

Did you ever resolve this issue?  Sounds like you may have sheared the roll pin on the shift fork.  Have you torn down the tranny yet?  Get in there and find out what is wrong.

I'm gonna guess he either did, or has since gotten rid of the car, or let it sit and said screw it.  Its been 4 months or so.

It could very well have been a simple shifter bushing. I once had the pin connecting the 5th gear synchro fork to the shift rod drop out in my saab, I was without 5th gear for many months. Shitty deal..

Yeah, that is what I was talking about, The roll pin that holds the fork to the rod.  They are pretty tough, and I would guess that he needs to change his technique so as not to shear them in the future. If the pin gets re-used too many times, this can lead to the pin falling out or early failure, too.

Just my, $.02 worth.

wormit was the shift fork.

What was wrong? Was the fork broken? Roll pin sheared/fell out?  What?  Inquiring minds want to know.

Any thoughts on what lead to the anomaly?
