Here is what I have to decide. Since I've bought an S12 with FJ20E I have posted a thread in here. And I recently met a guy from my college who have S12 too but it's with the CA18ET and he also has a spare engine for it. But some crazy taxi driver totaled his car and now I can buy it for a spare. So my question is should I stick with the FJ or to go with the CA18ET and convert it to CA18DET. And another thing is the bottom end of the CA18ET as strong as CA18DET.

Don't  FJ20 is legendary, CA18ET is average (maybe below). And it's not easy like that to make an DET out of the CA18ET. Lot of internal must be swapped and it's going to cost more than just buying an original DET. Don't believe me watch this FJ20 beast (turbocharged): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDGg3G-p6Fc...feature=related

What he said is true. Cams, intake, and exhaust make a stable, powerful NA engine from an FJ20E. And you can always go either two ways... turbocharge it, or carburetors like mine has, and make tons of power.

FJ is epic. CA18ET has potential, but it's no FJ.

BTW, where are you located? FJ20E isn't found everywhere, only certain countries got them.

An fj20e would probably be pretty hard pressed even after a lot of mods to make what the fj20et makes basically stock. At least for a street car that is limited to lower octane gas.

Well I'm located in Bulgaria and my car is imported from Germany and I think I'm gonna stick with the FJ then I can just sell the other two CA's and save some money for the FJ power upgrades.
