no....the same ca-det hoses that were on there with the s12 radiator.  The ca18et hoses work too

I've got the original MK1 all metal rad.  Its in great shape and temp is never a problem even here in Vegas *shrug*.  I've got Stanza electric fans relayed and switched on with the MK1.5/MK2 AC fan thermoswitch.  180 degree t-stat.  No AC condenser in the way of the rad.  Shit doesnt even get on the high end of the temp gauge during drift events in the dead heat of summer

Update on the radiator if you are still interested.  Also will come with an optional reservoir system that will improve flow and such.

can vouch for this surprising that a 20+ year old rad is still doing it's thing with no issues

If it aint broke don't fix it lol

here's the radiator I'm using for my ca18det.  http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?S...egory_Code=RADI Its really small but it keeps the car cool.  Also it was nice because I didn't have to cut into the chassis to put the intercooler piping because of all the extra room from the smaller radiator.

IggyEGuanaMar 15, 2010, 6:48 am · #10

^lol i bet it works great but that would still be halarious to see.  Honda scene is think here so I'm used to seeing them but in a s12 the idea is funny

Would the same Mishimoto Keith used be OK for use with a VG? space-wise and performance-wise. not too worried about mounting.

Any other recommendations for SE radiators would be much appreciated. I have a feeling mine is on its last legs.

I don't see why not....performance wise, yeah way better than stock, fitment wise, it's thicker than stock, but not enough to make a difference.....you might have to trim the stock shroud if you re-use it...but other than that, it should be fine.  Only other thing would be if your car is an auto....i think for auto tranny cars there are coolant lines that connect to the bottom of the radiator, which my Mishimoto doesn't have any ports for that

it is an auto. crap. i'll have to figure something out.

Well check yours and see if it's got those 2 lines going to the bottom of the radiator..I think they do, but I may be wrong.  Should be a couple of ports on there like on this one....

You could probably take the Mishimoto to a radiator shop and have them tap and install some barbs in it...or rig up a "t" in your lower rad hose that have a couple of barbs you can run the tranny lines to.
Ju_S12_TurboMar 15, 2010, 5:34 pm · #15

From what I understand if you are using it on a VG you have to get the cap welded shut on the rad, cause the highest point is a little further up where the normal cap is. I mean, I would rock it with out getting the cap welded shut and have two caps but that is not saying much lol, I think it might make bleeding the system a harder, but if you know someone that can welded aluminum good then it's no big deal and should only take him a minute to weld it shut for you. Oh and if I am wrong someone chime in here lol.

Also you could just pick up a trans cooler on ebay for about 20-40$ and just run them both, it would make cooling better anyways. at least that is what I would do.

IggyEGuanaMar 17, 2010, 6:55 am · #16

ya autos have lines to the rad but they flow tranny fluid not coolant.  theres a tranny cooler inside the lower tank of auto equipped radiators.  I'm still rockin my stock rad with those tranny fluid lines.  I have em capped off but they dont have to be.  It can be used an an oil cooler btw but I wouldnt risk it.  if it breaches and mixes oil/coolant ur shit is done.  price of failure is pretty high

uhhh, that would be terrible lol

Haha....yeah, disregard the above post.  I guess I was unaware that atf ran through a built in cooler within the rad.....I guess in my mind I was thinking coolant flowed to the tranny and there was some kind of cooler there or something...lol
The cooler must be tiny...because I have an aftermarket OEM rad that has those 2 nipples at the bottom, and it physically looks identical to my original rad.....minus those 2 nipples
IggyEGuanaMar 19, 2010, 11:45 pm · #19

its usually just a tube from one nipple to the other

yes it's an auto trans.

well this thing is getting really fucking hot and it's not going to last through the summer. i could get it rebuilt at a radiator shop but i'd rather get a new one. can anyone help me out? i'm getting worried and am at wits end.

Does your rad leak or does the engine just overheat?
VG33ERGazelle?Apr 7, 2010, 2:48 pm · #22

I haven't installed it yet, but the aluminum twin core radiator for the BNR32 has the hose ports on the correct side

No leaks at all. The car is just getting hotter than I'd like it to. With the AC on yesterday the temp was approaching in the H line. Last time I was at the shop for routine maintenance, I asked to get the coolant changed and my mechanic said he wouldn't recommend doing that since the radiator was looking kinda old and busted.

my car used to run hot and I had no leaks. I changed coolant and added water wetter and it made no difference. It turned out that my radiator cap was weak and wouldn't hold the proper pressure. For what they cost I recommend trying a new cap first.
