When gear is in neutral and i release clutch pedal I can faintly hear some grinding noises from underneath. Clutch fork? Worn clutch? I know my clutch isn't too good and I will soon replace it with another one so I would like to get everything done at that department while Im at it. Arigatou Gozaimasu

so when you push the clutch in the noise goes away? if so trans problem.

It's not a whirring sound, is it?  If so, it'd probably be TOB or release bearing.  If it's a grinding problem it could be internal to the trans itself.

Yeah exactly. But there are no shift boot, could that make the sound audiable? I got the s13 short shifter and haven't been able to fit anything on the huge clamps yet.

Also when cold, if shifted in over 2k rpm it will grind in 2nd gear. But just once every time it's been started. If I shift slowly it won't. That's the syncromesh right?

2nd gear grinding would probably be the synchros. my 200 in highschool would grind second if it was cold or i ripped it into gear.

+1, Any grinding beteen shifts is the syncros not lining up properly. Typical of worn syncros and much less likely to be the fluid itself.

As for the slight grinding/whining. Could be TOB, could be the pilot bushing. Could be a couple of other things too.

If he's in neutral with clutch out the pilot bushing is stationary in relation to the input shaft. The release bearing is also not moving. So not these.

The transmission main drive bearing, counter shaft and counter shaft bearings are spinning. First check the oil level. Low oil will cause bearing noise.

If you aren't using synthetic gear oil try it to lessen that grind into second when cold. I found my transmission down shifts much quieter with synthetic.

I just changed my trans oil to Redline MT-90 some months ago. I don't remember if it is synthetic or not but I think it was. And filled it till I could touch the oil in the fill plug so that should be alright.
