anyone ever tried to add a 1983 nissan 200sx s110 differential into a solid axle s12 (h190 axle housing) using the s12 axle

i pretty much ripped my diff up, i beleive my weak welds broke, on inspection of the diff, the ring gear, and yoke or w/e turns the rings gear seem like they held up, just the inside center exploded and threw spider gears all over the place

the diff has been fine for two years with the ka, never whined or anything. i was beating on it hard with the sr at the drag strip almost purposly to make sure the car is gonna be stable drifting

i know i have heard the h165 axles being weaker... but the diff looks exactly the same almost. as long as i get it welded better, i feel like it will stand a better chance

h190 to h165... are there different tq ratings? im going to add the s110 diff in, i already bolted it up and slide the axles in. it fits... and the wheels turn.

ISSUE #1

the "yoke" or whatever you call the piece that connects to my s12/s13 driveshaft on the h165 diff, is SHORTER, then the h190

it looks like i can just swap those pieces over, but im worried about the gear on the other side. is it connected to that?

if i recall.... the reason why ka sr s12 guys cant use the stock rear driveshaft is because it was too long in the first place right? could i add a full s13 driveshaft?

i dunno. if anyone has more info lemme know. im gonna take some pictures..

while im down there, i feel like i might as well add my s110 disk brakes. but where do i get replacment lock collars and bearings?

id like to have rear rotors so i ca get a willwood unit/bracket made as a seperate e brake

Might want to check the aussie forums on this one a bit more. But to my understanding, the H165 is not compatible at all with the H190. The only thing being compatible is the brake backing plates themselves. Which is why it's used as for the swap.

From what I understand about the H165 though, is that it wouldn't hold up to the power of a non-turbo FJ, that's why they made the H190 for the Gazelle and silvia. So I would go out on a limb and say fairly surely that the SR will just snap the axles like twigs, especially since you'll be flogging on it so hard for drift.

There's a reason why those with datsun 1200's swap over to the H190. That club will be a repository of information for ya too.

1200 club

Best bet is to find another H190 diff. Which one was for sale on here for 35 bucks not too long ago. I debated on buying it as a just in case thing

EDIT: Yup, it's Here

H190 is the one torn apart, the s110 diff is the farther one away

fuck it, you have it, I'd try it, just get a spare ready to go.  doesn't look like theres any difference in the axles, maybe its the diff itself that lets go on the H165?

i dunno. i took it on a vigorous drift test. and it held fine

They look the same because they are the same, well I should say that both are H-190s. The '81 and '82 S110 switched from H-165B to H-190 for those two years when the Z22 motor was offered. As stated the H165 would never swap into the H-190 housing.
