get one made

and it depends, it fits if you use a s13 c trans w a swap

ArroApr 10, 2010, 7:05 pm · #3

He's not swapping, he said CA18ET. So I take it he just wants the bearing. I would just order one from Nissan.

One-piece driveshaft will run you anywhere from $250-300 or maybe more.

BattleFairyApr 10, 2010, 7:06 pm · #4

so i should buy a singel piece....

i dont want swap right now ( i love sohc´s )
so do you know a good shop for it?

ArroApr 10, 2010, 7:53 pm · #5

No, don't get a 1-piece. That's ridiculous money spent.... just get a replacement carrier bearing and be done with it. ANY S12 carrier bearing will work, get one out of a junkyard for peanuts.

You can do more in better areas of the car with the money

BattleFairyApr 10, 2010, 8:16 pm · #6

honestly

I like the idea of a simple system of a single piece driveshaft

Junkyard??

NOPE sry
all japanese cars are sold instandly to africa or get crushed :-(

and you cant know
there only around 70 running S12´s in germany and nissan stop to sell the most parts of it here.

thats why i wanted to know if the S13 one fits
or better(cause new and stronger, lighter) where i can buy a singel piece

ArroApr 10, 2010, 8:20 pm · #7

I said that before I saw you were in Germany.

Africa?? weird.

Maybe the S13 and S12 are the same... Justin on here could look up the two parts and find out.

if you want a single peice driveshaft made your going to want to go to a machine shop locally...and we cant really recommend one to you locally as most of us are in north america. I say locally because it will be easier for you to communicate with them and because shipping on driveshafts is rediculous.

My former step dad has a single peice aluminum driveshaft in his 1st gen rx7 and it broke on him the other day after maybe 4 or 5 years of abuse...it fell out from underneath the car and has a wicked sweet bend in the center of it.

(sorry if my spelling sucks, I am on my brothers computer in opera instead of firefox and it lacks a spell check....why?)

BattleFairyApr 10, 2010, 8:32 pm · #9

no iam not in africa

since many years

africans go to our junkyards and buy shiploads wrecked japanese and some german cars

then they ship them to africa and repair them to sell

last week i saw two black guys with an truck full of engines

our junkers love them cause they earn double money

from us when we bring the car to them(yes we must pay for wrecking)
and from africans which buy the carsagain and export them

its sad
last year i trayed to find just a new hood for my wifes toyota and cant find anything in a radius about 250miles

GOD i hate my own country

The driveshaft shops all recommend you NOT use aluminum shafts on daily drivers, as the constant shifting while driving will ultimately twist and destroy them. They suggest them only for drag racing.

Basically they said always get steel for a car driven on the street, and anyways a one-piece steel shaft is hollow and lighter than a factory shaft assembly.

you know...i am not 100% sure as to wether or not it is aluminum or steel...i didnt take a super close look at it beside noticing the nasty bend in it...if he still has it i might take a pic...but he might have taken it back down to portland already so he can get another driveshaft so he can get the car ready for the autox next weekend...

It looks like the S-12 and S-13 bearing supports are the same, at least according to Rockauto.com

Bearing alone about $16.00 and with the rubber donut it will be $78.00 to $106.00

Good luck.
