hey all, new to the site, ive had my 200sx se since last october. had a few issues at start-up but have gotten through most. looking for some help on a few still current. the most important: heat. my car heats up extremely quick and goes far higher on the scale then i like. i wanna find out the best course of action to take and what needs to be done for it. radiator doesnt look like the fins are clogged. also looking into suspension setups, but that shall be another thread.

Thermostat bad, air in the coolant, low coolant, radiator core clogged. theres a number of things.

I'd stay start by replacing the thermostat and doing a reverse flush, to see if that helps at all.

Yup..

Water pump can be bad

relay for radiator fan can be shot.. or the fan itself can be broken. (If its only hot when stationary.)
Or you didnt put water with the coolent to make a 50/50 mixture..

Its just process of elimination..

Make sure you don't have any leaks. I'd guess thermo then water pump how many miles?

lots of miles. thermo and water pump are both good, flushed cooling system today and there is drastic improvement. gonna check the level tomorrow as well, shouldnt be leaking though, wasnt earlier. thanks for all the help

Does it still have the factory fan set up? If you radiator cap is bad that will also make it overheat.

Find a small 14-16inch fan on Ebay for an Eclipse or anything really. On the squirl the electric fan just says Eclipse 16" and its zip-tied to my radiator. I have a switch wired up in my drivers side dash area.

My new SE has the stock set up and it gets pretty damn hot going on road trips. On a 300 mile journey just last night the car averaged 29 miles to the gallon but would overheat coming up the mountains if the heater wasn't blasting. I need to do the full sweep now.

ive actually noticed that no matter what, when i have the stock clutch fan on before ive swapped out for e-fans, it generally just hovers at mid-temp on the gauge no matter what kinda beating i give it.

With my e-fan im running at about 1/3 gauge, but when i beat on it hard it hops up to 1/2 maybe +/- a tiny bit.

I run the altima dual fan setup... Using an older sentra radiator fan switch with a relay to control the fans. they click on at about 190 degrees. I also have a bypass switch inside the car to run them constant at track days.

It's easy to set up the automatic one... Power source to fan switch, from switch to relay, relay to ground. Then power source to the other terminal on relay, to fans, fans to ground.

Electrical line 1: Power>Switch>Relay>Ground
Electrical line 2: Power>Relay>Fan(s)>Ground
