Sorry,

This can be deleted! I can't believe I missed that stickied post!

Thank you,

OsadHey,

So Im right in the middle of my CA18DET swap into my mk1 s12 (ca18et). There is SO MUCH going on in the engine bay, I don't really know what I'll be needing and what not to keep.

There are so many harnesses and subharnesses. Is there a definitive source on this, because the 18det swap guide is quite vague! I don't have much time to be going through the schematics and tracing / testing each wire.

If anyone can help with some useful links, info, or pics, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks so much,
Dan

uh.

lower harness: use s12 one, ca20/18et oil sending unit, and a cut a splice alternator plug (if neccasary, i think on mk1's you have too)

upper harness just use the 18det upper harness, and use the KA24DE swap guide 200sx kit car wrote  on here for power to stuff., wire colours are very similar, if not the same.

i did this swap over 2 years ago so thats all i really remember.

Thank you!

Also, are there stock relays that we bypass, or are we creating new ones like in the 18det swap guide?

Why are we creating them? And where exactly do they go?

Last question, when unplugging my harness from the ECU side, a light blue plug had to be disconnected from the harness that led up into the dash, what was this? Will I need to do something for it?

no use the stock s12 relays, that swap guide is kinda outdated, it works, but its easier to use the factory relays, like described in the KA swap guide.

the light blue plugs goes up into the dash. all youll need to hook up is the orange wire for the start signal and the coolant temp signal(purle and white? i think).

you can make the tach work, but you need to splice some diodes in off the ignitor, theres a thread on it on here somewhere.

I was comparing the two harnesses and still am super confused (im a n00b with some of this stuff). None of the plugs from the main harness match upto the plugs on the EFI harness on the driver's side front corner. Ill read the KA swap guide next.
