looked around here, no defanate awnsers...

was going to just use the stock manifold, but one of the "downpipe" studs is broken, duno how to get it out, so i'm just looking at this as an excuse to go with a header

i looked on egay for a cheap header, is there anything to these 50 dollar headers? i mean, i dont need anything super special, but i also dont want to buy something that will mess the rest of my motor up(burn valves)

I never heard of a ebay header burning up valves or even any stock n/a 4 banger burning valves from even running open header. The only issue with egay headers is they are made of thin metal and tend to crack parallel with the welds, just after the weld. (thin metal, intense heat) Try and find a pacesetter or any used one, k/a's have shitty flowing heads so a header don't hardly make a difference if any. But they do make them sound better.

I gotta disagree with you on this.... I had a KA24DE swapped in an S12 with a stock cast manifold, and now that same powerplant is in the blue car with an Ebay $70 header. For $70 I thought, "hey I can't go wrong".

Here's the info on what I had to do to make it fit:

The part I disagree with is the improvement it gives. I had 2.5" end-to-end exhaust before on the cast iron manifold, and that did wonders. Now, with that same exhaust, mated to this new header, I get a BIG difference on seat-of-the-pants. I'm certain it's higher flowing. Anyways, check that link above to see the full details.

I say it's worth the work to make it fit.

thanks for the info, just wanted to know if using an Egay header would suck assage, i read around and the general consensus is that if you put a flex pipe on it, its not so bad for cracking, but i was more worried about something stupid like a bad mating surface or something like that

looking at this,whatchu guys think?

still debating, i want to eventualy go KA-T so i duno if buying a header would be a good idea... does it have a hookup for all the emissions BS?

as for fitting it, that looks like a bish... when you beat it up, did it make a hump in the floor of the car? i wonder if a shorty header might be a better idea

I would say save your money if your going to turbo the ka...you might not spend much on an ebay header...but if your going to go turbo every penny you can pinch will help you get there faster. I have read from a very knowledgeable tuner that headers and cai dont do enough on the kade to justify the price you pay for them and that the best thing to do with a ka is to turbo it or just keep an eye on your fluids and beat on it. His experience though is with KAs in s13s...which are heavier of course. Any hp gain in an s12 is going to feel substantial.

i say go for it dude. the cheap header will have fitment issues, but nothing we cant handle.
