Car keeps cutting out every other day. One moment it has plenty of power, the next, it is acting like it's running out of gas. I've done a tune up, replaced the fuel filter, and replaced the 02 sensor. I even swapped on another MAF I bought from a member. The fuel pump tested good. The only other thing I can think of is the Catalytic Converter. It also puts off a strange smell while cutting out. Think it's clogged? Was going to replace in the spring with a new muffler, but.....
Any opinions or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! nerdystraight
Cutting Out
Wow....glad I joined a forum. Guess I'll talk about Beer rather than help fellow enthusiast rolleyes2
Easy man we get like 94380593405 of these threads every week describing the same symptoms. We just need a sticky to be made that has all the answers and pictures of what to do I guess.
I've had to deal with this problem a few times on 2 of my SE's. Did you look at your TPS? Unplug it and look at the connections if they are fried, clean them up, put dialectic grease, and reassemble. Do this for the Air regulator as well (device sticking out of pass side of plenum), if it is still acting up after that I would start removing plug wires and reattaching. Just take everything off, clean it, dialectic it, and reassemble. That's the only way to do it without replacing all these old crummy connections.
(when you get to that stage of TPS/Air Reg fixing you will get a 240sx TPS and 240sx TPS pig tail and rewire yours to accept all that. easy stuff, most connectors at the junkyard from similar nissans will work so just play around till you find what you need.)

Any progress?
Thanks, I will try that. Thought my days of messing with IACV and TPS were over (CA18 = Nightmare). Gotta get this going before snow. I HATE wiring. This is why I bought a DD that didn't need an engine swap. Guess that's my mistake by buying old Nissans.
