Looks decent!  the headlight switch to the right of the steering column is where the "SECU-RITY" light goes.  and your steering wheel is not the factory piece.

WonderingravenJun 2, 2011, 1:25 am · #3

alot of this isn't the factory piece I've noticed. The switch to the right is an engine kill switch... no idea why there is a kill switch, this car is a bit confusing at the moment.

RedneckJun 2, 2011, 2:36 am · #5

So now that you got an SE what are the plans for your ca20 hatch?

WonderingravenJun 2, 2011, 2:43 am · #6

big project drift missile most likely, fun car. This is technically going to be more my daily run around anyways.
Pushing this around is better then a falling apart firebird, that cost 3x the amount to repair.

Oh yeah, thanks iggy for the help ;-) I owe ya lunch

Changed, I've finally got it all straighten out will have the title soon.
I need some Z32 wheels.
WonderingravenJun 10, 2011, 9:44 pm · #7

Updated on the project.
checking out the engine bay some, and then ended up loosing spark when starting up the ol beast.
So now in the progress of doing a full tune up.

IggyEGuanaJun 10, 2011, 10:39 pm · #8

check those wires with the plugs that were right by the battery pos terminal. theyre fusible links and if u broke one of them u couldve killed the eccs. go backwards thru what u did since the last time it fired up and you will mostly likely find the problem. its usually something stupid and annoying

but then again theres always the chance of it being something unrelated and coincidental

WonderingravenJun 10, 2011, 11:08 pm · #9

I'll do that tomorrow, I redone the negative terminal, the positive I didn't really mess with because it looks too insane to touch.

Yep need z32 wheels to replace these 3 altima 16's steelies, and this 1 dodge rim.

Too hot to keep working on it today,as it hit 98 today. Just by changing out the dizzy cap my skin started to burn again. I lived in this town for too long and this heat still bothers me :-/ but this weather is just starting, before you know it's, it will be 120 where the rubber melts to the cement. Hopefully by then I can get things in better shape.

WonderingravenJun 17, 2011, 1:53 am · #12

I've actually been thinking about making this my company car. Thinking of the ideal of getting a vehicle wrap and use it as my IT Professional car.
All these computer companies use different "new" style vehicles, trucks, vans.... so a hatchback computer car ;-) or maybe these gas fumes are getting to me

IggyEGuanaJun 17, 2011, 6:47 pm · #13

actually not a bad idea. the s12 is very sci fi. car has to be in great shape tho. imo the perfect s12 for it would be a highly optioned mk1. all those 80s tech doo dads :P

its a bold move to be a throw-back techie

WonderingravenJun 17, 2011, 8:36 pm · #14

Yeah, or something kewl... I just got my job back with lasvegas.net so I'm not to worried anymore on this mk2 sev6 is going full throttle with restore and 5spd swap.
it's time to get my ass drifting!

looking good man, need to get rid of that AC compressor though, its for weenies

WonderingravenJul 9, 2011, 12:00 am · #18

in vegas AC > all !

Colonel GustardJul 9, 2011, 12:16 am · #19

wait it works?!?!?!

WonderingravenJul 9, 2011, 12:19 am · #20

Yes sir, Ice cold too =)

Colonel GustardJul 9, 2011, 12:33 am · #21

oh nevermind, dont take that thing off, r12 AC FTMFW, coldest stuff out there

WonderingravenJul 20, 2011, 8:29 pm · #22

TPS sensor changed, broke a bolt tho!!!! dang it...
But had some weird issues with the power. Used my handy bat / alt voltage testor.
Battery on and not idling it's low 12v
when idling at 600 - 700 now
alt voltage is reading 0
battery is now at 12 - 5v of power almost dead.

Now I gotta pull the alternator get it tested, recharge the battery.
and most likely replace alt, and it should be golden finally :-)

Colonel GustardJul 20, 2011, 11:13 pm · #23

hopefully that solves it for ya

WonderingravenJul 21, 2011, 12:06 am · #24

hope so, atleast it idles now :-)

ProlowtoneJul 21, 2011, 12:47 am · #25

Maybe i am thinking of someone else but you said the alternator was new right? Most likely another bad resistor in/on the alternator. bought a new alternator for my friends car and it died on the way home the next day... bought a new resistor, took the old one out, soldered it in and we have not had trouble since

WonderingravenJul 21, 2011, 8:32 am · #26

no it's defiantly not new.

Post Merge: 11:47:24 PM / 21-Jul-11
Update on this, alternator is good. It passed 2 rounds on the testing machine @ Orilley's
So tomorrow, going to hook up the alt, and all the crap back together and start going 1 by 1 with all the fuses, then vaccum hoses, then wiring.
Something weird is going on and tracking this down is being a real pita.
WonderingravenAug 2, 2011, 9:48 pm · #27

AC just got deleted mainly because it froze up.
trying to adjust the idle, the idle is at 2k now at start and too much butter fly play. Adjusted the cable as much as I can but still not long enough for the idle to be right.

Drove it around the block today, I'd insure it today and drive it to work but due to the crappy tires on it, I need to get a new set of tires before doing so.
So Monday will be the full conversion day, Going to get smogged, new tires, then register it.  sell the bird asap.

Strong electrical burning smell coming around the ALT. Will be checking out the ALT later on today, make sure the ground cables are connected, and will be disconnecting the power to the A/C COndensor to make sure it's not that burning up inside.

Colonel GustardAug 19, 2011, 3:20 pm · #31

burning smell? thats never good. check your battery positive wire and make sure it isnt rubbing on the power steering pulley,

Yeah, I need to zip tie that down also.
didn't look like it moved much from it's location, but it might of bounced around.
Colonel GustardAug 19, 2011, 3:29 pm · #33

yeah when mine had power steering  belt on it ate through half of the clump of wires and melted them together, it caused my battery to die overnight everyday

WonderingravenAug 22, 2011, 12:43 am · #34

Yep fixed that, also fixed my tail lights and dash lighting issue too.

Just by doing this

I will also mention the pink wire actually was laced with 3 other pink wires coming out of it before I crimped this.
I have no idea what this guy was running but if it's anything with his previous wiring job... what a morooooon.

Next is when I get back from Oregon is to order a new ignition cyl lock, I have to apply pressure to the key for it to run correctly.
picking up my MK1 just after Formula D / Pro-Am RND4

Ok got my CM Springs in, ordered 280zx Tokico HD shocks up front and z31 Tokico HD for the rear.
Not going to be the best, but it's better then what it currently has.

This weekend, I'm also going to pull out the SE body kit and see if I can readjust the front and rear bumper and re-attach the SE sides and lip.

SlickS12Dec 2, 2011, 12:32 pm · #38

Cool man! Im digging the supercustom side marker lights too ;)

That intake piping must have been a pain to fit around the a/c compressor.  Im with gusty here, ac adds alot of extra weight not to mention it gets in the way of having a short intake.  A/C is for weenies! =P

WonderingravenDec 2, 2011, 12:44 pm · #39

side marker lights?

Oh yeah, another thing on my todo list... might as well do that tomorrow too.

:yay!: :yay!: :yay!:  ready for the suspension upgrade!
ProlowtoneDec 17, 2011, 3:45 am · #45

Cleaned the garage a bit while waiting for my buddy to come over again with his civic. Organized my pile of S12 related parts and filled 3 more Rubbermaid bins and started using the organizer i bought for bolts etc.. and i still have more laying about :S.

While steam cleaning the car my friend told me some interesting news about one of the shops i know. Its run by an acquaintance of mine and his father, They are understaffed and its going to get worse now that its winter.. and they just lost another worker (Alcoholic or so i herd) who had his stomach rip open and had to get stitched back together and cant work for awhile. This shop does Race built cars and tuners and is in the middle of building my friends RB powered S13, so i would like to help out and get some more shop experience.

I will be able to progress my fab skills, learn more about tuning then i already know. Plus i will get the chance to get some Very sweet parts, be able to source the parts i want for cheaper and maybe have access to tools or people that will do some good low cost labor (Hot tank my block and head, blueprint the head, over bore my cylinders ETC). I may also be able to get some ideas for suspension work on our cars Cheesy

My friend is just going to mention me cause i am not hopeless. I have been to the shop a few times and still cant get over the cars they have in the lot and on the shelf's in the shop.. Cheesy :Giddy: I like guy and hope that i will be able to fit in at his shop if i get a chance to prove myself useful

I think the ca20's head is almost at its limit :S. My repair on the rear of the head is still miraculously working perfectly with my home made fix for the water jackets! but the front of the head is starting to succumb to the fatigue i had noticed around cylinder one valves.. I cleaned the spark plugs and noticed they were heavily covered in burnt oil (Explains why the car is starting to smoke again) Sad I dono if im going to build up my DET right now... all it really needs is a turbo and bearings before it goes in, so much for my plans T_T

Post Merge: [time]01:26:45 AM / 19-Dec-11 [/time]
So i tallied up my det parts shipped to my place since my ca20 getting close to quitin time Sad. Grand total $2586.90 (Saved $714.54). Time to buy my parts since there is a sale on for Christmas
VG33ERGazelle?Dec 18, 2011, 5:41 pm · #47

yeah they were is was fucking awful haha.

I'ma fix it though. it'll take a while to get the motor rebuilt and put back together so I'll have time to tinker with suspension while it's disassembled.
