::NEWB HELP:: 86 usdm S12 CA18ET to SR20
Please search more, there are people in here who have sr's and their past posts will be helpful... and you will want to probably read the KA24DE swap threads too because the wiring for the SR is very similar.
ok ill look into it more but somtimes i get really confused reading them lol and sorry for the used and abused thred but links are very helpful and any other help on this topic is going to be great !
I'm working on cleaning up the info even more, but definitely read the KA swap info threads... the wiring done there will work the same way for an SR. Did you already get an SR engine?
i do not have the engine yet but soon and its more for a basic no how and to see how it works im exitied for my first official build
Before you buy your engine, check out the swap comparison guide in the comparison section. Figure out what you actually want out of your car before you plunk down the cash for a motor.
its going to be my drift car for the season so im wanting to do the sr swap cause here in cgy, ab, canada. its one of the most popular engines parts all over the place for them aside from the ka or ca18det so i want to run sr for this season and see how it does then make my full discion on rather to keep it or go rb25det swap
SR is a better choice over anything RB...
1. You mentioned parts availability. SR > RB for both OEM and aftermarket.
2. You mentioned drifting. SR>RB because it will give you a better front-to-rear weight ratio, and ultimately the engine ways less.
3. Ease of installation. SR > RB because it basically bolts right into the engine bay if you use a standard S12 CA crossmember. RB needs custom mounts, relocation of the radiator, etc etc etc...
