So my original B trans took a dump back in May 2012 with roughly 280,000 miles on it, and my S12 has been up on jack stands in my garage ever since until yesterday :yay!:
I finally found a '88 ca20 S12 with a C trans at a pick n pull with 120,000 miles on it, so I went and snatched it up, and brought it home.  I replaced the front/ rear seals, and shifter plate gasket, and cleaned the decades worth of grime off of the casing.
Install was relatively easy.  The only modifications I needed to do for the swap was slip the collar off of my original MK1 front drive shaft, and make a custom cross member, which is no more than a piece of steel flat bar I bought from Lowe's with 4 holes drilled into it for mounting.  That's it! Everything else was my original MK1 parts including rear drive shaft, center bearing, and slave cylinder.  No modifications had to be made for the shifter hole either.

Here are a few pics......

After all the years of reading on here that the C trans shifts 100% better than the B trans....I can now safely say I agree with that.  There is no effort in the shifts at all.  Super smooth.  I should have done this swap 20 years ago

Anyway, though I would share.  The only thing I am not happy with is the shifter height.  I had swapped to a 280z shifter 8-10 years ago on my B trans which was so much shorter.  I had forgotten how tall the original shifter was.   You can see in the above pic how much of the boot I had to cut off for the Z shifter.  I need to figure out a solution for the C trans shifter now.

There is a way to cut the C trans shifter... but I wasn't around when my buddy did it... :(

Yeah, thanks for the help with it.  I tried Arro's method of grinding down one side of the mk1 crossmember and adding washers to the one side, but aftering grinding down half of it, it still wasnt enough to allow the mounting holes to line up....even with slotting the trans mount.  After wasting 2 days screwing with that, i decided to go buy some flat bar.  20 mins later it was done..lol
