So I recently just bought an 88 s12 v6 and the motor is about done. So i'm wondering how difficult it is to swap to an sr20. Would I need more then a ca18det, I hear those pretty much bolt in. Any advise thanks

You would have to chamge the crossmember but after that it shoulb be pretty much a bolt on affair...

But to be honest for as much as a swap goes for you could just rebuild the vg and call it good thats what i would do anyway

I swear the SE's are destined to go extinct. It seems like all the (usually new) members that end up with the SE want a 4 cylinder and all the members that want the SE end up with the 4 cylinder. And why is it always the sr20det these newer members want to replace the vg30 with? The members like grizwald just need to find another member in their area with a 4 cylinder s12 that is salivating at the mouth for an opportunity to own an SE and trade them. So frustrating when SE's are in such lower supply in comparison to the 4 cylinder s12's.

Truth!

Agreed.  I wish I could have found an SE.  I would definately not be doing a SR swap.  Save that swap money for a monster rebuild and you'd have a pretty quick ride.  Ahh youngsters.... You gotta undestand that these cars were only made for 2 out of the 4 years our cars were in production.  Heck, the SE is the one to have.  Keep SEs alive!!!!

In low supply? I keep seeing them popping up left and right!

A vg notch is SEX!  Especially with all the SE bits on it. Lip kit and what not.

yea Drift-s12's is sick with everything molded

my favorite SE-notch is Jordan's out of Spokane, WA.  ridiculously clean in my eyes.

But yeah, if you want a four cylinder car, don't use an SE to do it with.  They are rare and only going up in resale price.

But on the other hand, do it.  It only makes the true SE-V6's more rare.  Every SE that gets 4 cylinder swapped or crushed makes my car all that more cool and rare :D

QFT

OP, find youself a crossmember from a 4 cylinder model. Swap is EXACTLY the same as a CA18DET, except for wiring.

I'd rather have 200hp 4cyl with tons of bolt on aftermarket than a 150hp V6 with caveman technology and no room for upgrade without custom fab.

The man makes a valid point in that respect. Same reason behind my SR swap in my 18et car.
