Hey guys, I am finally putting heat back in the Nissan....well trying. I have lost my manual to show me how to pull the dash to get to the core and I dont wanna break anything in the process. My question is does anybody have a diy thread or any info on the install that would help. I have pulled the glove box and can see the core in a white plastic box....Thanks

s12 heater core install
Sorry, you have to pull the entire dash to access the core. Just need to take your time and keep all parts in order. I had half a garage bay covered with parts to get to mine. Took me about 10 hrs to take apart, 2 hrs to re-assemble. Mechanic quoted me 8 hrs labor and didn't really want the job! A manual is nice to have to help find the hidden screws and various retaining clips. Some on line here.
I should do a diy walkthrough on the dash since ive had mine out about 5 times and can take out and install one in under 2 hours. but for a heater core dash has to come out regardless. its not hard to do, just make sure to take your time and do it slowly so it doesnt take you 2 days like my first one did haha
Thanks guys, lol. I should manage, I just didnt wanna break anything. Im letting my girl drive the car and id like it to be warm for her when she drives it otherwise I wouldnt be worrying. I actually found a write up on here and it should be similar for my 85 I would think being I have a digi dash its prob just more wires to unplug. Ill post up a diy of my own too as I keep working on this. I have had it for about 8 years and shes only at 100,000 miles and gotten a rebuild on the engine about 35,000 miles ago. Lots of plans ahead this winter and spring.

theres also a huge junction box on the passenger kickpanel. will need a 10mm to undo the connection, and as well as a 4 pin connector with the pink and blue wires by that box needs to be undone. as well as on the driver side under the dash thheres a rectangular connector that should be covered with a black rubber cover needs to be undone.
And careful plugging that big junction box back in - it's not hard to bugger the pins. Also, lots easier to work on when the parts are nice and warm - more flexible, less breakage potential.
I say that the hardest part of the hole job is popping the top cover off against the windshield without breaking crap hahaha
I can't seem to find a part number for the correct heater core and I was just curious if somebody knew what it is. It would be great to get the actual number so I can make sure the shop I go through for parts orders the right one the first time. Thanks again guys....
Got mine from the dealer. Also can try nissanpartszone. Either will be spendy I'll bet. Dealer will have part number too.
