iv got an 84 with the ca18et its completely rebuilt...
my only mods are a 2.5in exhaust a god speed t28 a fmic a cheap ebay bov (soon to be replaced) and a plx afr and a stage 2 6 puck clutch
i just got it running a couple of days ago it seems to run fine my afr's seem to check out but i wasnt sure if it would need a tune??
1st gear kinda bogs out but i think it might have something to do with the cheap ebay bov leaking boost??
do i need a tune?
what are your afrs? when under boost and how much boost are you running.? Also do you have stock injectors and fuel Pump?
just trying to get an idea of where you're at and when you say bogs in first what do you mean?
in 1st gear it loses power its like it hiccups? thats really the only way i can explain it if you get what im sayn
as far as my afrs at idle its like 14.3 - 14.6 something like that you rev it up it gets down into the 12s and in 3rd gear with it floored it runs super ritch

oh and im running 8-10 psi and iv got stock injectors and fuel pump
Ok have you checked timing? my ca18et would not have any power with the timing at the factory setting I had to advance it all the way for it to get up and go it was weird lol...also try backing down the fuel pressure a bit and see where that brings you for your richness. also check your ecu for codes...
i think my timing is all the way advanced
and it only gets rich when its wide open in 3rd??
also i dont start spooling till like 3000r?? is that normal? its been a while since i drove it with the stock set up so idk
Sounds a bit like mine, although I only have a T25. I did like Sideways says, backed off the fuel pressure a bit (provided you have an adjustable regulator). During hard acceleration, my afr shows 10.0, and will blow smoke if I don't open the throttle more. Yes, it could use a tune with one of those fancy maf modifiers, I just don't have the funding to do that right now. I would rather super rich than have it going lean on me. As far as "hick-ups", what grade fuel are you using? I found (before the rebuild) that using cheap fuel was real bad for acceleration, it would hick-up really bad in 1st.
Yeah spooling at 3000 is actually good for the t28 my big 16g i was running spooled at about 3700 which is bigger than the t28 so its not to bad the stock t2 on mine spooled at like 2800 so your doing good just be careful runing it at full advance if you over rev youll drop a valve which isnt fun lol trust me i know.... Also get an safc to.control the fuel so you wont be so rich....
i only use 91 octane but its been sitting for a while so it might be stale
buy some of that fuel stabilizer from autozone unless you feel like dropping the tank which isn't hard but the stabilizer is easier lol
lol its not that hard to drop the tank its hooking everything back up thats the pain in the a** lol iv all ready done that once but ill go get some of that stabalizer tomorrow
lol sounds good....
