Engine dampers

Does anyone know if it's normal that fluid comes out of your engine damper. I always thought they were solid rubber blocks  :wideeyed2:
And I've also noticed that the peace that normally sticks out, is now pushed in (after the oil leaked completely out).

And no it wasn't dirt, it really was fluid/oil :))))

Haha,  perfectly normal.  They are,  in fact,  filled with oil!

So that means I'll have to buy me new ones? Or can these be refurbished in some kind of way?

Need to replace, try Rock Auto. They may have them on the shelf.

My motor mounts also pissed oil out just like yours. Check out my pics if you want. I ended up going the "hockey Puck" motor mounts route. Little stiff. But i love it! and it was cheap($4).

LoL, nice fix! :P

I think I might stay with the OEM ones (if I can find them)

Thanks for all the information! Does Rock Auto also ship to Belgium (Europe)? :)

Well, you might try entering your request in "Wanted to buy" section, I don't see any engine mounts , only transmission mounts. Rock Auto does have a number of items for our older cars, and apparently will ship anywhere as they have a monetary drop down for pricing in most currencies.

Thanks for the tips and your quick replies!

Since I'm swapping in a CA18DET I was wondering if stock S13 engine dampers/mounts would fit the S12 crossmembers? That would give me more aftermarket possibilities and would make finding OEM ones in Europe easier :)

Look for a link in Keith's postings in regards to his build. Keith has incredible pictures documenting everything he does to his car, which is easily one of the nicest examples of a modded S-12. He has the CA18DET in his car and I believe the installation all went rather smoothly for him. Also, feel free to contact him, he has been extremely helpful to me over the years.

I've found a lot of info on the CA18DET swap and how to do it (of which there are also Keiths' posts). But I can't seem to find a topic about his built, I've tried multiple search key words and also tried google :P

Contact Keith by pm, he will send a link to his pictures. He documents all his work with astonishing photos, he was a tremendous help during my build of my CA18ET.

Keith replied me very quickly but wasn't sure about fitting S13 mounts on s12 crossmembers so I put my question in the CA18DET part of this forum.

I'm wondering if these can be refilled? for example when I put them in a bucket full of oil and close them immersed under the oil. Seems like the reason why they leaked in the first place is because I unbolted one bolt to many (first time i do an engine swap so at least I've learned something :P). Or maybe if I refill it with silicone? :D :D

Not sure but think I read that once the seal is broken they are toast
