Its a 84 CA20e just want it to slide better get the chassis up to speed before i do a swap.

Id rather not weld my diff, and get a better diff to slap on.

Know nothing about it.

You have an SRA or an IRS?

Either way, its gonna be kinda rough; If you have the H190(SRA), which I think you do, there was a locker, but I don't know if it slides right in, if you can drift with that, or if you can still obtain one - maybe best just to pirate another axle from a more popular car, maybe 8.8 ford. If you have the IRS, the R180 LSD is no easy find, not that strong, but your existing  stuff will work. Or you can go R200, from a Turbo or Z31, which you'll need a bunch of stuff; halfs, case, gears, and then buy an LSD which still is stupid expensive.

SRA. its all stock and i believe thats what it came with.

And ugh. Whats the best option to get her sliding easier.

I can break her loose pretty good in the wet but on the dry i really have to whip it.

Might just be because i have brand new bridgestones on it though.

weld the diff and jack up your tire pressure, there really is no better way.

or you can trade me for my SE and get a Z31 clutch lsd or 2 way :)

Therr's a guy on here that has done the 8.8 rear from a ford to an sra car might be yuor best bet if your looking for an actual lsd if you don't care about it being legit then weld the bitch and call it a day....

GhoStJan 13, 2013, 4:30 pm · #6

Id rather drive it as is and really have to pow on it and feint the wheel to get it sideways then weld the diff lol.

Again great info guys.

@ I_Heart_VVL show me what you got, I dont see any pics or links to your car. and where are you located.

Meh welded diff isn't that bad mine is welded and slides fine when I want it to. and when I don't want it to in the rain lol. Everyone has different opinions when it comes to a welded diff. Mine is it's not as bad as people say it is I daily drove mine when the car was running and never had a problem. People say its hard to turn at low speeds while driving and my response to that is man the fuck up lift some weights and you'll be fine lol. The only thing that's a bother is if you have to actually push the car when you turn it's a bitch but that's about it ....

Yeah exactly, I'm planning on welding my diff. I have power steering (ripped axles & no fluid lol) but now the question is: Would I benefit power steering with a welded diff? I've already gotten used to driving "non" PS haha

p.s. sorry for minor thread jack

Turning is much harder with a welded diff, but it's not bad... I hardly notice it on my S12.

Yep,  that's the reality of it.

I ran without P.S. before I freshened my motor,  and while the motor was out, I put a new rack and pinion in,  and it makes the car so much more pleasurable to drive around.  Some people on here have had problems sliding without power steering, something about the wheel not snapping back by itself or something.

If you can save the power steering without spending a crap load of money I'd say keep it but if not then get rid of it it's really not that bad drving without power steering every s12 i've owned I've ditched the power steering and been fine hell my wife's dsm has no power steering and she can drive the car just fine low speeds and all and the its 10 times harder than the s12 to turn without the ps... lol

I bet she can beat you in an arm wrestling match lol but yeah I might just end up deleting the system anyway.. It's something I've always thought about

sideways_s12Jan 14, 2013, 7:07 pm · #13

Lol Iono about all that hahahaha But yeah it's not that bad.

turbo-s12Jan 14, 2013, 10:08 pm · #14

Why delete it? just makes things worse not better

sideways_s12Jan 15, 2013, 1:54 pm · #15

nah it's not that bad

LonelyS12Jan 18, 2013, 1:13 am · #16

running a power steering rack without fluid makes no sense. its not meant to run like that. even with fluid in still running it manually is not right. the gear ratio is not the same as a manual rack. you are just making your life harder.

as for the SRA rear end, welding it is the best option in my opinion. there are blocks you can put in it for $300 such as the phantom grip but that shit is basically the same thing a welded diff is doing. there is a LSD for the H190 SRA that it is exclusively JDM and the last time i saw one for sale it was around $1200.

turbo-s12Jan 18, 2013, 8:27 pm · #17

^ Ya im sure its not that bad but its not improving anything so why make things worse makes no sense at all.

burritomannnJan 21, 2013, 2:53 pm · #18

Excuse me I like to feel the tires as I turn the wheel  :tongue2:  I'm young and stupid anyway lol   :sleezy:
