hey i have a 87 200sx xe and im having issues with the fuel pump and im hoping to get some advise on how to fix it. the guy i bout it from said that he had a new fuel pump but in, but i noticed that the fuel pump keeps running even with key off, i have already determined  that it is a wiring issue but i want to have some outside opinions first before i start find a way to fix it. so here are my questions.

1st. what does the fuel pump relay look like and  if the connector i  located is the relay or not  if pictures are needed il post them opon request?

2nd. my fuel gauge isnt working and i found wires that are directly connected to each other that have been pulled out of the connector keeping in mind this is the same connector im talking about in the first question?

3rd. can low fuel in gas tank be the cause of the fuel pump being really loud  or could there be air also being sucked in to the system that's causing that  loud sound?

SEARCH BEFORE YOU ASK.

There are four wires to the pump. Located in the trunk on the right hand side. Power, low fuel sensor, to gas gauge and ground. Also I would check your relay if its closing curcuit properly.

sorry its not letting me copy the picture for some reason,  so the connector that has the 4 wires on both side of it is not the relay and some of the wires that connect threw that connector  are pulled out and directly connected can that cause it to keep running?  also is the relay the cube like piece that is a few inches up from the connector?

There is a cover in the floor with 4 screws in it with a wire bundle in the center. That is the harness going to the fuel pump. Take the cover off and you will see the top of this

EDIT: damn pic won't link. Go here to see it.  http://www.theautopartsshop.com/electric-fuel-pump/bos67875.html

There are 4 caps where the wires go through the top plate. Usually what happens when the pump says running is the ground insulator had deteriorated to the point where the wire is touching the top plate and closing the circuit and thus the pump stays running. You need to replace the fuel pump sender to properly fix the issue.

oh ok there is a wire that touching that top plate   and grounded to one of the screws holding that cover on   buy another wire so if i take that extra wire off it  will it stop it from staying a closed circuit  ill upload a pic in a few i got open it up again.  thanks for you help
