Dash Removal
I had to do it for a heater core change. It took me about 6 hours but I didn't have as detailed pictures. Don't miss those two screws hiding under the small lenses for the guage surround. I assume that has to come off 1st to remove the dash, but I could be wrong. Do this on a nice warm day to lessen the chance of breaking pieces.
Why do you want to remove it?
It's pretty straightforward. That diagram is more than sufficient, I take the steering wheel and shifter out too. Just take your time and get a buddy to help physically pull the thing out.
yeah looks pretty straight forward...
Iv been looking for something like this! This will help me a lot. Im taking mygay brown dash out and putting a nice black one in
I went and looked at the car, as rednucleus noted the cover above the instrument cover must be removed to get to the dash screws. I updated the attachment with some more color. The center console is out, but I need to remove the steering wheel.
Here are my reasons for removal:
1-Clean it
2-try to find the diode box, may be searching for something that doesn't exist.
3-Auto transmission to manual. Install clutch pedal and swap brake pedal.
4-for the frustration factor, lol
diode box? can you elaborate? I have my dash pulled out right now so I can probably tell you that I don't think this thing exist... there are a few diodes here and there in some of the harnesses, but no proper diode box that i remember off.
See my post about the diode, let me know if there any ideas on this.
