Posting in the electrical because it has to be an electrical issue.

In the heat of the day 80+ outside if I drive my car for a bit when I park her she just clicks when I attempt to start her till I let her cool down for atleast 2 - 3 hours what could be the cause of this?

- starter is good - solenoid is good - battery is good - cable between the starter and battery is good. - Alt is good.

Only thing left in my eyes is the the chip with the coil that needs to be upgraded to an pwr2 mod.

I just want to see if anyone else experienced this issue as this has been one of my ghosts for a while now and it's now time to get it fixed.

When it happens again, rap the starter with a hammer while someone holds the key on. As I posted earlier, if it starts change solenoid & starter. They can test good but have an intermittnent problem. I have had it happen in a 68 chevy 327 and 93 chevy 350; twice in the 68. Always when hot.

Is your ground that goes from the back of the trans on a starter bolt to the trans tunnel good?  And also,  I had a similiar issue when my coolant temp sensor came unplugged.   It started fine cold,  but needed to cool down to start again.

Yep that wire is also good.  This is a reman starter from mexico er I mean Pepboys.  So it might just be bad from the start.

well let me know I still would like that chip pre wired too :-p

I'm going to try the chip first because this has been an on going problem.

Could have sworn i already posted this here, but it sounds very much like the problem we had with my wife's Pathfinder.  I don't know what the engine temp and ambient temperature had to do with it but the problem ended up being the ignition switch itself.  We replaced relays, the starter, cleaned everything.  In the end it was just the ignition.

yeah you did in my build thread

I had the happen in my old saab, wired a push button switch from the battery to the starter and it would start instantly. I assumed old wires and heat cause them to stretch. But its definitely the ignition.

It's the connectors on the cable to the starter, the ring terminals to the starter have build-up and when it gets hot there is too much resistance and current will not flow until it cools down.  This is from a personal S12 experience, all you have to do is take the two connectors out and sand or file the rings with sand paper.

PS:  This was covered from the old original S12 board but all those information were lost with the system crash...
