I decided to start a build thread for my new S12. This is the first time I've ever done this so bare with me on the format. I'll also update some info this weekend that I might be lacking. Love and hate are welcome.

Here is my 1987 Nissan 200sx. Its got around 208,000 miles and the motor was just rebuilt 10k miles ago. Its got new injectors and fuel rail. Its got a stage 3 clutch, aluminum flywheel, R200 diff, and godspeed R32 skyline radiator with twin electric fans.

This is what it looked like when I picked it up. The overspray on the trim is horrible. I'll have it fixed soon. It rained today so I couldn't get to it.

Today, I threw my 17x7 35 offset ssr wheels on it. They came off my Celica. The back is lowered more than what is in this picture. I just forgot to release my ebrake before taking the picture.

The exhaust was trashed so I took it up to Universal Motorsports and they straight piped it and welded up a DC Sports muffler. It sounds pretty good. Its not loud at all which surprised the hell out of me.

I'll upload pics of the actually muffler this weekend. I forgot to take pictures. I'll also put up some interior and engine bay shots. Thanks.

Not bad! What are your plans for it...

My goal is too make a head turning dd that i can drift about once a month. I'm looking into sone ccw classics but might do the xxr reps to keep it on budget. I really trying to figure out whats tge best route for the rear end without welding it up. Any advice? The guy said a r200 was in it but im not sure if thats a good one to drift with.

The R200 diff and axle rear end is your best option. Get a LSD for it and call it a day. those things can take a beating

He has the kaaz lsd that runs about a thousand or he got it for a thousand because he got the hook up lol something like that I believe the z31 will work. there are some threads about it here.

So just to be clear, i can get a lsd out of a z31 turbo and it will work in my r200?

sideways_s12Jun 5, 2013, 4:26 pm · #9

I'm not positive that's why I said to search I'm about 86.7 percent sure lol

To find a Z31 R200 with a factory lsd is nearly impossible.

You can just buy any LSD meant for a S13 open case Diff.
As Jason stated I bought the KaaZ super Q LSD.

The R200 longnose came out of Z31's, Turbo S12's, and SE S12's. a quick search and you can see what years had different gear ratios.
Lucky enough you already have the R200 rear setup all you're missing is the LSD.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll be combing through the threads all weekend for info.

Update: Just picked up a set of NPG coilovers from a S13. I'll be doing the swap once I get all the other needed parts.

if your on a budget a obx lsd is a good choice. its a kaaz knock off. ive had mine for over 2years and drift on it a lot. but I would highly recommend getting the upgraded washer kit & bolt kit if you do. also take the diff carrier, obx hlsd & have a shop put it together. I spend around $750 total on everything HLSD, bearings, upgrade kit & labor. best money I have ever spend.
