So this morning it started doing this, as I accelerate the fuel gauge would go down really quick but if I come up to a stop sign it would go up really fast also. Is there such thing as a gauge calibration or is this a really bad sign of the fuel pump might be going out? Please, any information is is very useful.

Wouldn't think fuel pump, but maybe sending unit or bad ground?

I'm really not sure how this one works but is there a float in the tank that has become detached and is simply floating free in the fuel?

I would think if the float is detached the gauge would be inoperative

Sounds like it is now functioning as an economy gauge! Too much gas and it goes down, back off and it gets better. More of the forward thinking from Nissan!

LOL! Well after speaking with one of my coworkers (use to own a Z32), said that is the fuel sending unit just like rednucleus had said. A ground unlikely because the fuel pump would work at all, so now the fuel sending unit must be FIXED! Can some direct me to the proper store to find one, since all I can find is just the fuel pump.

I also have a fuel guage issue where im not getting any fuel level reading at all.  Car is mysteriously drawing amperage and killing battery with no key.  Fuel pump is not on though but various members have suggested changing the fuel sending unit.  There are no more replacements from nissan and I could not find any aftermarket direct fits.

A member also suggested that a s13 one works.  can anyone confirm or direct me to one that does.
