I'm starting my build-up, and I have a few questions. First, I was reading that the best exhaust system for a NA CA20E was a 2.25 in, but I read about dan's 200 that he said made good power with a 2.5, so is there a big difference? next, I have two options for a muffler: 1) I buy a $50 un-named ricer muffler from a wrecked Cav. down the street, or I get a $17 normal muffler which is 2.5, and has a short warrenty. Which? soon to come = exhaust, intake, some new wires, and new rear brakes (OEM). I'm also getting some more things from yellow, brain-fart, I'll edit later.

2.25 would be the best 2.5 you will start loosing low end

I would look for a good aftermarket muffler. Not some ricey junk. But it is up to you. A 2.5 isn't gonna hurt you now anything bigger might be a bit much.

well... i think I'm gonna go for the $16 muffler, and a tip. the muffler's not a ricer... the classic offset inlet/outlet, I'll post pics later. I'm gonna go do some junkyard hunting, and hope to come up with a bigger radiator, some cup holders, and maybe a a strut tower tyer

Define ricer muffler though ... ricer's often spend way too much money on good stuff they don't need. A straight through muffler will flow a lot better than an OEM stlye offset in/out.

My muffler is totally "ricer" but it flows waaaaaay better than a stocker.

Stock stuff is designed to muffle at the sacrifice of flow.

A 1 3/4 inch to 4 inch tip muffler is not a good candidate. Mine is 2.5" in, 4" out with a removeable silencer.

Actually, if it hasn't sold yet, Mimms is selling a mandrel bent 2.5" ca20e setup. That was one bad ass exhaust set up, sounded amazing.

yea, I heard mimm's setup..was monstrous....but he was also running catless.

dan ran 2.5 because his is a VG30E, not hte little ca20e and those V6 like flow...

and his other car is a Turbo and 2.5 is in my opinion a lil small for a turbo.

and if you're talkinga bout Magnum, then...his car is a turbo model too...

Mimms'

oh...yea..

mimms also worked quite a bit on the ignition and intake too.

Ractive cone filter, 8mm NGK ignition wires, 240sx Throttle body, Intake Manifold bored out to match the Throttle body, straight through(no cat)

so he got good gains from all that.

Hey... I've come up with some pretty cool ideas (I think), and I was wondering if anyone had tried any of them or has any opinions. First, I was thinking of a cheap intake alternative, and I was wondering if I could just cut a peice of my old filter out and tape it over the end of the pipe, or if I should just take the top off the old air box. Either way, I want to maybe wrap in an anti-heat wrap. next I was wondering if I should make some bars that can be attached to the back walls of the hatch to give the car more rigidy. I'm also buying a port/polish kit from yellow. I had more, bu I forgot, so I'll post more later

$85 is what i paid for mine, start to finish. not too bad. check my cardomain site for pics. 50$ for K&N, 10$ for intercooler piping, 15$ filter adapter, 10$ for wires to extent MAF and relocate battery to other side of car. and a few clamps and bungs.

that looks good! I may copy-cat that. The slightly larger than OEM rotors are going on tonight or tommorrow. I'm also going to change my fuel filter sometime this week. Also, I called it a "ricer" muffler 'cause the car it was on was a ricer, and 'cause it has no brand-name I can see
