well first thing is first
this is a describtion of the wires from the ca18et
can any tell me what they individually do. eg:(black wire-----ecu power)

engine compartment
1) big plug by ign coil
6 wires go into it

black wire
black with white stripes
blue and white stripes
blue and red stripes
orange and blue stripe
green and black stripes

2) second plug right where the maf plug wire enters the engine harnes
square shape
4 wire go into it

green with yellow stripes
black
black with white stripe
green with black stripe

3) right next to it there is another plug
2 wires

pink with brown circles
black and red stripe

second issue, engine is in, the clutch arm if screwed it won't move, to push the release bearing forward, not even when you press the clutch let alone by hand
I am using the ca18et tranny with det flywheel and det clutch.
do you think the input shafts are shorter and it's making con'tact? When the tranny is in neutral i can't turn the drive shaft even with rear wheels off the ground. Is it something jammed?
thanks
Bess

pics wuld be very helpful

well unfortunately i have no digi
but the describtion i think is pretty detailed
as there is ONLY one big plug og engine harness that connects to the electrical harness and is located front left side by the coils.....no one can miss it

Hows the sawp coming? Are you up and running yet?

Euroboydate not saved · #5

i would be but i don't know what those wires do

craigcddate not saved · #6

I might catch up to you yet. I really doubt it though. You never said if you got the links to the wiring diagrams and ecu pinouts. Here they are.

If you havent go here and post in the CA18DET section, they seem to have a massive amount of info on the CADET.

Post your results. Your PM's arent working aswell

i am having probs with the et tranny

Euroboy I'm snowed under at the moment sorry so I just can't remember the wiring. Look I have a copy of an s13 ca18det workshop manual (in English)in CD form. It has wiring and everything in it. Contact me at: [email removed]

with your address and I can burn you a copy and send it to you. Its a slow and painful process going through the workshop manual,(hey but that's engine conversions, there's no easy way) but what you do is think of all the things to run, e.g ECU, igntion coil packs etc etc. Then you look up the diagnostic sections in the manual and it gives you a small wiring daigram with wiring colours for each of these and you match your wires that way and then wire it up.

Please people don't flood me with requests for this, I'll send a copy to Euroboy and then all you North American folks doing ca18det or sr20det conversions can contact him for a copy.

I have to stress that I used both the s12 w/shop manual wiring info and the s13 w/shop manual wiring manual to do my wiring. (Earlier redtop sr20det and ca18det wiring is the same, they used the same harness and everything, so you can use the diagrams etc for either conversion)

Actually Euroboy just go to the UK link for the s13 manual provided above by Craigcd in his post, that's where I downloaded my workshop manual from. (Takes about an hour)

i know all the wires for the s13 guys
the plugs here are from my s12 harness. I need to know where they go before i start splicing
there are about 10 wires under the hood and one or two in dash to make the car run

again the plugs that i am asking for are from my S12 not s13
i know the s13 wires where they go

Im gonna use these will it help you?

Euroboydate not saved · #12

thanks a lot man
for finding the info
matt where the hell do you get this stuff man....you proving to be more resourcefull every god damn day LOL

gerrybgdate not saved · #13

You didn't pull the s12 motor without first checking in your workshop manual and marking the important s12 wires and relays for ECU, fuel pump etc. ? If you haven't done that it makes it much harder and you'll have to go through the s12 manual following wiring colours so you know what the s12 ones are

Euroboydate not saved · #14

i know where everything goes into the s12 engine
i can hook up the harness in like 5 min and know where the plugs go.

craigcddate not saved · #15

What fuel pump are you planning on running Euroboy?

Well your in a for a treat when you get it all put together. Got mine back on the road wednesday night and the first time that turbo spooled up and my head snapped back all the crap it took to get her going just faded away.

New problems =)
Exhaust needs to be 3" or (like me) the wastegate going nuts will be louder than the BOV
The engine runs HOT, the intercooler blocking lots of the rad don't help either. So electric twin fans are a must.
Gauges... The dash is not to bad, speedo, odometer, gas work. Aswell as the other gauges infront of the passenger seat but thats it.

So nothing to major, just spreading the info.

Drifterdate not saved · #21

^ Did you hook up your car together or did you have a shop do it for you.

MCMKdate not saved · #22

The shop did the wire (over my head) the FMIC, BOV and incabin boost controller.

bizzarodate not saved · #23

Hey did you have a digi dash or an needle type? Also how much was the wire job? I'm gonna do it myself, but if I get terminally stuck I'd like to know what I'm gonna loose outta my wallet.
