autometer aftermarket ones are your best bet. right now im planning out redoing my dash with a tach, speedo, oil temp/pressure, and water temp..

Nobody uses a pyrometer/EGT? Helpfull for high way driving under boost.

i should have one installed in about a wek or so when the gauge arrives... cant wait to have egt alone with a/f makes me feel alot safer

what exactly does the EGT look for and how does it help you during boost might I ask?

exhaust gas temp basically tells you of when you go lean or way rich cause the temp will got up when either occurs.. basical rule of thumb is 6inches from ehxaust ports is the ideal location..

I got a 24SX A pillar gauge pod, with some minor heat gun modification i formed it to fit exactly along the trim. Thought it was going to be difficult and look like crap but it was easy. If anyone is interested i will post pics.

A word to the wise about EGT guages. Most people believe that the temperature will keep rising if you keep getting too lean. THIS IS NOT TRUE. Just before you end up popping a piston (actual time depends on how lean you have it) the temperature will go down!!! This I believe is because there is less fuel burning, and therefore less heat being produced. There are a couple snowmobile articles out there that describe it a whole lot better than me, but be warned, EGT can fool anybody. The only way they are reliable is if you know for sure what temperature the car should be running at, and if it changes up or down, you should start to worry. I will try to find those articles, and I will post them when I do so that hopefully less pepople will pop pistons...8)

I will be using my EGT to monitor engine temp only and use my A/F to determine how lean/rich im running. Im tuning my care with a wide band 02. So i doubt i will really even need a A/F unless i make changes. I drive 1/2 an hour on the highway every day, just want to make sure i dont melt my engine with "spirited driving".

I just found the article. I was a bit wrong about what lowers the temperature, but the temperature does drop.

Here are exerpts from the magazine. It is the 2003 Buyers guide, from Snow-Goer Canada.

The images are small here because they are hosted through my cardoamin site. If you want larger copies, PM me.

EDIT: I was able to get another host...here are bigger versions...now you can read them ;)
