the bottom one on the outside of the door windows is held on with one screw. Open the door, its inside the jam of the door. Just pull that screw off and it should just pop off. Be carefull the one I pulled off had some rust that held it in tighter than it should.

This is also the way to get your windows out if you ever need to do that.

Let me know if you figure the rest of them out, I need to paint ALL my trims.

i need to get them off before the rust building under them pushes them off :S.

Well, got a few good hours of body work in. SSChung found me a windshield (forever in your debt man) so I had to get the old one out, and start the whole process.

Wouldn\'t you know. Pulled the trim off the windshield, and my roof is rotten! I could literally see the underside of the roof liner from outside the car. So fixing all of that kind of set me back on my schedule.

But I also pulled the trim off. I hate the stuff. Filled the holes for the trim, and the marker light. Anyway, took some pics, let this be a warning - these cars will rust out in the strangest places!!

My mad Bondo skills
no, that\'s not finished, that\'s why it\'s so textured *lol*

Can you paint the chrome trim? Wont it just chip off? I will be going in for paint in a month or so, once my engine in. Have to get rid of that nasty chrome for sure.

Chrome? Was that on the MKIs? My trim (the flat part that runs along the rear 1/4 windows) is black ... and was when I got the car. I\'m pretty sure it\'s factory.

I don\'t see why you couldn\'t paint chrome.

you just have to figure out if it\'s really chromed steel or that plastic crap.

Either way, if you sand it down, primer will bond to it.

it\'s not real chrome..just plastic

speaking of that trim above the windsheild, it started coming off on my car. is there a type of glue i can use to set it back in? right now i\'ve got a ghetto-tastic piece of tape holding it down so it doesnt flap in the wind  :lame:

The J channel? The hard rubber soft seal thing? It\'s supposed to be pressed in when the windshield is installed, and the epoxy holds it all together. I\'d get that thing glued in, it\'s all that keeps your windshield seal at the top from leaking, and that\'s why my roof rusted out too.

You can buy windshield epoxy from your parts guys. The stuff is great for putting weatherstripping on, hell, anything really.

As for the trim painting, if it is plastic, you\'ll need to sand off all that plastic wrap, and get down to the bare plastic. There\'s special plastic and flexible parts primer/paint designed for bumpers and stuff, use that.

yes i was talking about the j-channel. windshield epoxy it is then, thanks
