Absolutely.
I have a 84 CA20E radiator right now, and it weighs a ton! Came out of an automatic car, so it has the tranny cooler built in. Bolted right into my 87 car. The stock radiator from my 87 CA18ET is a nice, thin silver rad which looks a lot better and weighs a lot less. It's got a cracked top cover though, so that's why I had to swap in the 84 radiator.
The radiator on my 87 VG30E is big and thick like the 84 CA20E radiator.
The CA radiator is not a swap in for a VG radiator. There are different hook ups on the VG that are not present on the CA. Also the cap is on the radiator on the CA and not on the VG.
I just went through this whole mess in trying to replace mine and ended up just having it re-cored.
Ah. See, I never tried putting either of my two 4 cylinder rads into my 6 cylinder car. Just swapped the 4 cylinder ones around.
If you have a 4 cylinder, you need a rad from another 4 cylinder.
If you have a 6 cylinder, you need a rad from another 6 cylinder.
I've recently been looking at the Infiniti M30 radiator. The Infiniti M30 ran a VG30E - the mounts look identical for the radiator. However, the filler neck is on the top of the radiator in the middle. It utilizes pretty much the same upper radiator hose, except it has a bleeder valve in the hose at the highest point. The stock filler neck on the S12 could be blocked off. Anyway, There is an M30 in a local junkyard here, but the radiator is gone. I might see if they have it tucked away somewhere to see if I can take some measurements. Here's the best pic I could find of the setup:

It's missing the spot on the upper tank for the thermoswitch for the electric fan.
Bah - mine never worked anyway. I removed my electric fan. It may have it in a different location though.
