Hey guys,

My question is I plan on buying 17 inch rims for my 87 SE, and also planning on lowering it using the ST springs. I was woundering if anyone with an SE (lowered) with 17inch rims had any problems? Also what kind of size should I go with on tires, and every spec on the wheels.

Here is the rim im planning on buying. I was planning on telling tirerack that it is for a Nissan 240SX SE 1998 because I heard some where that it shares the same bolt pattern?? Please tell me what should I look for before buying these..

Well the main part to watch is the offset. As long as you can clear the inside, you can make the outside fit. I believe a safe offset is about 30mm, and the most you want to go is 33mm. Imperial is about 1 1/8 in to a max of 1 1/4 in. This will give you clearance on the inside. As far as clearance on the inside you can flare the fenders. The hot rod method of doing this is using a baseball bat. Put the bat between the tire, and the rim, and the person holding the bat presses to bring the fenders out. Then another person starts the car, and drives it back and forth until the fender is as far out as you want it. I would suggest that you do this before you lower it so that you can actually fit a bat in between. So to estimate try putting the new wheels on, and guess to see if there is enough room, if you don't think it will fit, try the hot rod fender flare trick. 8)

i have 17x7s on my car @ the moment, and they r doing pretty good, 2 add 2 that i lowered the front by 2.5inches and the rear by 3 inches, i have no scrubbing problems @ all, i got the gaurds rolled b4 the wheels were fitted(recommended)

i am running 215x45x17, i reckon a lower profile tire would do just as well, say 215x40x17

i noticed that ur wheels r a 5 stud pattern, have u had the 5 stud conversion, or is it 1 of those mutistud wheels?

My car came with 5 lugs, all V6 SE has 5 lugs. The CAs has only 4 lugs, and the rim offset I guess is different? Im not sure but all I know is that with V6 guys the only problem I want to aviod is rubbing when locking the steering wheels, or when I go over bumps.. I want to make sure if I were to go with 17s that what I should be looking for. Or if I decide to go with 16s I would like something that would have a nice profile.

Ok it looks like I may not have a problem putting these on.. I am going to purchase the springs first and then do the rims when I save some more $$ I might do all of it in one shot cause that way I wont have to do an alignment twice. I am going to go with 16s it maybe the best choice for clearence.
