Ok I am gonna try replacing my ECU in my 1984 CA20E powered coupe. I have a problem with injectors firing nonstop. My question is will any CA20E computer from 84-86 work or are there differences? I have the full digital guages and all that jazz. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i believe that any ca20e ecu for those years would work fine.

Any MK1 ECU should work as long as it is for the CA20. Try to stay with the 84-85 if possible, because the 86 as a mis match of parts, and it seems almost no two are the same. The only reason the turbo would work would be because the Turbo uses richer settings, and it won't recognise the MAF. Other than that it would work. Also it (as far as I know) doesn't matter if your car as the digital, or analog dash...because that is controlled with a different module. And if your car is a standard you can use the standard, or Auto ECU, but if you have the Auto, you can't use a standard ECU. The MKII ECU's will work fine, except they fall under the same conditions as the previous stated, and the MKII's have a governer I believe around 215. I hope this helps. 8)

Actually an MKII ecu probably would not work because most CA20Es that were MKII had the crank angle sensor timing setup while the MKI used vacuum advance. Totally different.

I figured the analog and digital didn't matter. I'll look for an 84-85 ECU. Thanks for the help. If this works I will be quite relieved. I stil havm't gotten this damn car running and it has been forever since I bought it. We narrowed it down to the injector problem so I hope this is it and not a burnt wire. Also the ECU in my car is refurbished. Thank you again for the help. :D
