like the subject said. my workshop manual said it's on the intake side, behind the oil filter, but i'm having trouble locating it. also, what does it look like? and what's the easiest way to get to it?

edit: sorry, to clearify, i'm talking about the engine drain plug that releases the remaining coolant from the engine block after the radiator has been drained.

thanks

if you cant find it, you could pop loose the bottom radiator hose. that would get most of it out.

bottom of the radiator on the exhaust side. Very easy to spot

i've already done this, would this completely drain the coolant from the entire system (ie. engine and radiator)?

Well the drain plug on the radiator is at the lowest point in the cooling system, so just draining the radiator is a pretty effective way to get all, or nearly all, of the coolant out of the engine.

The engine drain plug is on the exhaust side below the welch plugs about 3/4 of the way back.
Its a 17mm bolt and might take some perswading to get it out.

Best way to clean the motor but. First time I cleaned mine I just took the hoses off the radiator and run the garden hose through the block. After a couple minutes doing this when I thought it was clean I decided to get serious and remove the drain plug. There was still a lot of crap in the block that was freed when I pulled the plug.
