I'm in the process of removing my engine head. so far I've drained the coolant, removed radiator fan, belts and hoses, disconnect fuel injector wiring.

now I need to remove the throttle body and intake manifold, but several of the bolts are located at the back of the engine (in front of the fire wall), to get to them I need to remove all the fuel and vacuum lines. The work shop manual I'm using (Clymer - Datsun & Nissan 200SX) doesn't have any detailed instructions or diagrams on removing these lines. I'm afraid without proper instructions I wouldn't be able to remember what connects to what when comes time to put everything back together.

Could some one with a better shop manual scan me the pages on Intake Manifold removal? Thanks.

I don't have anything like that in my manual, literally it says "remove manifold" and that's it.

Let's see what I do have though ...

For putting it back together

I'll see what I can dig up on the manifold

thanks for the diagrams.

My "bitser" S12 had a later model intake manifold without the EGR connection (I think) from the exhuast manifold. I took some digital pics I can post if you want. The motor was shot so I just pulled all the hoses but left the manifold connected when I pulled the head off.

please post your pictures. it seems i also have to have the head off with the intake manifold attached. some of the bolts are just impossible to reach :( did you encounter any problems removing the head this way?

I did this about 6 months ago, you dont need to take off any of the injector harness or any lines. It is a PITA to get all of the bolts off. What you need is a 14mm swivel socket. It saved me hours, after I found the damn thing in my dads toolbox. Hope this helps.

I have loads of pics but cant load them. They are jpegs but are 120K and the limit here is 40K. If I can convert them to GIFS I'll post them. Stupid ME paintbrush. I have pics of just about every connection to the motor.
The order I attacked it was:-
Remove all wiring to injector, distributor - remove the dizzy cap and all leads.
Drop the manifold support.
Remove all the hoses connected to the manifold. Some are a bit tricky to get to.
Remove rocker cover.
Wind back tensioners on all the valve adjusters.
Losen all head bolts in the right order.
Off she comes.
Any way your in Brisabane so if your really keen drop out and see me. I live in Ipswich. Mail me at [email removed]

email me your pictures [email removed] and i'll down size them to 40K (with Photoshop) so you can upload them here.

Thanks for the invite, if i'm really stuck i'll come and talk to you.
